I was having a problem with the search engine, so I figured I'd ask the question anyway.
I was able to find a recently wrecked 1998 Prelude 5 Speed. So I was able to get all of the parts for $1375. I've got a friend that's a mechanic that I've done a lot of computer work for, so he's going to do the work for nothing.
(I mean every conceivable part...)
My question is: Has anyone been able to figure out how to rewire the auto ECU to work with the 5 speed?
I'm VERY adept with electronics.... so that's not a big deal unless we're talking reprogramming the EPROM.
You got all of the parts from the 5 speed except the ecu? I don't know of anything you can do to make the auto ecu work 100% properly. Apparently, you get a hunting idle when you use the auto ecu in a 5 speed swap, and I suspect it is because the auto ecu needs certain inputs from the auto tranny ecu to work properly, inputs that will not be there when the auto tranny is not present.
In older Honda ECUs, converting them from auto to manual was as easy as removing resistor(s). Do you know anyone else with a 5-speed Prelude? Take the covers off of your ECU and theirs and compare...?

Skark old man, I got the keys, the ICU, the ECU, guage cluster, shifter, linkage, transmission.... everything....

You said u got the ECU from the other car,why worry about the automatic one, can't u just switch them out and sell the stock one, also, good find man, i found a wrecked one but it was missing alot of parts, but still searching..
Finally giving up on the SS huh... Sounds like you got sick of dealing with honda and the whole SS issue. Kinda sucks since you knew so much about the SS tranny and all. Good luck.
With everybody switching to 5-speed, maybe having an SS will be rare and make the car value go up.... Yeah, that would be cool.
