SRS Module Fix

Hi guys, I'm new here, had a question for the site, I understand that it might have been in the search somewhere, I did take a look, just couldn't get what I wanted out of what i found. If one of the threads on the site has exactly what I need for information, please, feel free to shame me and then link me to it

Anyways, on to the question..

I have very little mechanical experience, I recently wrecked my 99 base prelude, and insurance was collision only. They wouldn't cover the accident, so I ended up having to repair it all myself. I've rebuilt the driver's side suspension, replaced bumper and fender, ordered new airbags and a clockspring, and I'm really at the last part here.. SRS module. It's recommended to replace it with a new one, and I'm unsure of how much faith to place in shipping my computer off somewhere to get it wiped and hope it comes back one day..
Currently, the new airbags are installed, but not plugged in. I havent hunted for the SRS unit yet, because I've also seen some trick to reset it with a paper clip in the little yellow plug. I was wondering if this is an actual fix, has anybody used it, or if someone has used 'myairbags.com' and gotten good results, or if I should just spend the wholesale 450 some dollars on replacing the unit completely. the car drives, its off to paint soon, when my fender gets here, but I'd like to get this SRS issue sorted out, instead of just driving around with airbags that arent even plugged in, lol

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the car was in an accident and the bags deployed then you need a completely new SRS unit. The paper clip trick is for resetting codes and nothing more. And yes it was covered before Airbags deployed/fix
