Spring/Shock/Install Debacle

i was supposed to have my Lude back with HR sports and KYB AGX's today but the installation has not gone well. this is ridiculous.
the CV joint was apparently very close to buckling in and when they started the install on the left front spring and shock, it basically fell apart in their hands.
they have told me that they'll fix it on monday when they get a part in but won't be charging full install price.
this is a high quality place and i really do trust them, but i'm just a little disappointed, as anyone would be, in this situation.
oh woe is me.
anyone have any comforting words as i drive the extra 00 4-door accord around town this weekend??

a spring shock install should be very straightforward.

Hey man dont feel bad, Im in the same situation.
Both of my cv joints popped out during my koni/gc install.
I mean they just popped right out so easily. Well during the process of trying to put them back together, getting the bearings lined up correctly, a few of the bearings broke. Ofcourse you cannot get just the bearings so I had to order 2 new driveshafts at 200$/ea. Right now my car is sitting in a garage all tore apart.
Like I didnt spend enough money on the shocks, coilovers and wheels/tires. I cant wait to add my new driveshafts to my mod list (sarcasm). So dont feel bad, **** happens and those cv joints should not come out that easy.

The inner joints don't "lock" into place, when they are off the car the CV boot is all that holds them together. Perhaps they inadvertently pulled on the drive shaft and seperated the joint...

i'm not sure the exact problem with the CV joint, but when he showed me, it was basically hanging down on a thread and said it could have gone at any time.
just curious, if indeed the CV joint had broken while driving what would have happened?

also, could a faulty CV joint be responsible for the "jerking back" feeling while driving? i'm driving at 35-40 mph cruising and the car will pull back a little. feels like a tranny problem.

even when i start out, it occasionally revs up but won't pull forward (1st, and 2nd gear.) could the tranny be going at 63K and 5 years old?? tell me i'm just hallucinating or it's the CV joint.

Bad CV's make a clicking or knocking sound and make the steering wheel wiggle back and fourth when turning. The inboards are easily rebuildable but the outer's are not (its cheaper to replace the whole thing anyway).
As for the tranny problem just contact me sometime after you get your car back and I'll try to help you figure it out.

Also, call them on Monday and tell them to bag the parts for you... I would be interested to see exactly what was wrong with the joint.

yes, another day without the lude. it will now be ready tomorrow night because their mechanic was sick today... i can't believe that i would have to pay full installation price for their continued mishaps.

they run a shop too so someone has to be up front and the owner is out and about all day (though he's a great guy). the mechanic knows his stuff, that's for sure, and thankfully he guaranteed the car would be done tomorrow night by 6pm.
until then, i'll just drive my mom's '02 A4- she's gone to the Caribbean, and i'll just have to take advantage of that for now.

well, today is the day- i hope for the car.
apparently the front set was done yesterday after they received a part to fix the CV joint (17 bucks, instead of 170 thank goodness). i hope to have it back this evening and i'll be sure to post pictures as soon as i get my digital camera back from my mom, who's in St. Barth right now.

Lude is going to the dealership. Left front is rattling like crazy and i think it's from when they were dicking around with the CV joint. i'm tired of this. i just want to drive the car for more than 2 days. it drives great and handles really well, but this CV joint is ridiculous.

As for the pullies, i'll give you a holler. as for the sixer- made it a 12 and we'll really have some fun.
