Speed Limiter

Out of curiosity anyone on here know how to remove the speed limiter on the JDM Prelude TypeS ECU? I was racing a GSR and ended up losing because I forget that the JDM TypeS ECU gets cut off at 120 mph! damn that sucked ass......so anyone have any ideas?..help?..comments??

He just said JDM ECU. Yes it can be chipped. I don't know details but speed limiter can be removed.

You may want to look into whether the APEX'i rev/speed meter can do it. It reads in the real speed signal, displays it for you, and after you accelerate past a certain speed, just outputs a constant number to the ECU. I'm not sure if it'll work for the Prelude, but it seems to be a pretty universal type solution. I can go home and try to find the manual for mine if you're interested. I have the old model though (before they switched to the VAFCish look), so I don't think you could find it anywhere. I'm not sure if the new one has the same feature.

Ok. I think there is a misunderstanding here. 99Interlude, your car can hit 140MPH+ because it has no speed limiter. 1sweetlude, the same applies to you, there is no speed limiter on your car. 1sweetlude was agreeing with you that both of your cars can go at least 140 MPH.

Now, H22ATypeS's Prelude does have a speed limiter because he has an ECU from a Type S Honda Prelude. The fun stops at 120 MPH. Everyone clear?

I'm clear with that. It sucks having a speed limiter...I took mine to 148 mph., I would've gone faster, but my exit came up...Don't suggest doing this, but if you do, make sure its late at night and the highway has no cars. Also, keep your windows and sunroof closed

windows close. Aerodynamics. Open your window and you become part of drag.

Well my car used to be an Auto....so after I dropped in the SiR
S-Spec tranny I needed a manual ECU......so I finally located a TypeS one....to make a long story short..yah I felt a difference..but that's probably because I went from auto ECU to manual.
