gilgalad81, IMO

18in rims? i'm pretty sure if those 18in rims were advans or volks a lot of prelude owners would be taking those 18in rims without no doubt. lowering the car? well you can keep your car at stock height.
putting on a wing? i don't consider the stock oem wing to be overly done or too agressive. btw, anyone who bought a prelude is original. those who bought the 4th or 5th gen. prelude did not follow the trendy thing of getting a civic or integra. you can keep your stock looking car because i'm going to follow some trends. i have jdm foglights. i have an oem bodykit. i have 18x7.5in advan kreuzer series 5 rims. i have a very trendy aem cai and some other trendy bull-sh*t. now what else can i say? just my own 2cents.

< trendy
< original

That has always been one of my peeves about the prelude. It seems the entire aftermarket industry is geared towards the civics and the integras. But for those of us who shelled out a little something extra for our cars, there is limited options. As a result, unless you're proficient with custom molding fiberglass or dabble in body kit design, you're gonna have to go with one of the only options around. Granted you won't see as many ludes on the road as civics or tegs but there are still quite a few. So the odds of you doing something that has never been done before are slim to zero. As for the performance mods you listed, they are common for a reason. You could always go the opposite route and stiffle your intake more than stock, or add a couple more cats. We do what we do to make our cars go faster, look different/better. Of course you could always explore the 'do nothing' option, but then... there are lots of people out there that have done that too isn't there?

It's a trend, doesn't matter what caused the trend. A lot of people get AEMs just because they've heard they are good and so they figure they ought to get one too. Though they are making an educated choice, they still do it because of what people have told them about AEM intakes, it's not like you can test drive intakes very easily. Sounds very much like a trend, even if people are doing it for a different reason than to have the car look flashy. btw- I have an AEM intake, because people told me it was probably the best, so I believed them and got one.
