something that's not trendy

So has anyone done anything recently to their car that's not been OVERDONE (i.e. altezza's, jdm fogs, AEM cold air, pretty spark plug wires, etc....)? I'm just curious if everyone is just following trends or is anyone doing original mods......

original mods?

all the mods you listed EXCEPT for the tail lights & fog lights are performance mods. are you talking about getting a k&n drop-in filter *old-school* vs. CAI? i can't think of any more examples...performance is never trendy in my book.

What is there for the import scene that hasn't been overdone? We have about 5 major aftermarket parts designed by hundreds of different companies...it's all overdone.

I chronically forget to really clean my wheels, even though I wash and wax the car plenty. They look horrible now. Does that count? Everybody else has really shiny wheels.

I suppose it's hard to do original mods because no company would sell anything unless they thought they could sell a whole bunch of them, which means there will be a whole bunch of other people who've done the same thing.

A while back I looked into getting a custom adjustable rear anti-roll bar, but no company would talk to me about it. And then this group buy for the Fisher Concepts Harmonic Damper to replace the stock damper pulley, but they've never gotten around to giving us the damn things.

how about a phantom top?
triple golds?
gold fender trim?
swirly art on the side of your car?
hydraulics?
ram air hood with custom intake placed by the ram?
dual exhaust?
smoke your fog lights?
centered exhaust like the boxster?
solo wiper?
B series engine swap ?
fuzzy dice?
join the passenger and driver seat to make a love seat(like a taurus)?
make the hood open the opposite way?

such great ideas ...

About the only mods that aren't overdone for the Lude would be a custom Turbo + intercooler set-up (or a production set-up... whatever) and bulletproofed internals.

The world would be such a cool place with more 12-second Preludes running around.

How is AEM CAI an 'overdone mod' Its a performance mod. Not for looks. As for JDM foggies, i dont think they are 'overdone'. Seems very pompous of you to suggest that people are following trends. A person has every right to do whatever they want to their car no matter how ugly or stupid it is (and no I have never owned altezzas, not that there's anything wrong with that )

OOOOOOH I have an idea........how bout camoflauge colors for your prelude.....that way everyone knows you're going into "BATTLE" trying to be "STEALTHY" and "CAMOFLAUGED" .......and why not paint the words "STEALTH" and "CAMOFLAUGED" on your prelude as well........like "TYPE STEALTH".......so the cops know that you're really stealthy and sneaky....."duh"...that way they won't pull you over..............or how bout signs like "crackbaby on board" and a rearward facing childseat with chucky the doll in it with a fake machine gun, smoking a pipe".

Or how bout the sloping lights on the 5th gen "converted" into sliding up and revealing machine guns...........has anyone done a successfull 7.62mm conversion on their headlights?....i think a 12-gauge sun-roof mount kit would be cool....cuz since you can get a VISOR for the sunroof, why not get a shot-gun nest for your passenger to climb up and fire it. Or how bout a DTD button in your car (Ditch the Drugs)...that when you press it while being chased by cops...all your drugs hidden in the space where your spare should be get ejected sideways at high speeds.

Or how bout when you press a button like most of your non-engine parts explode away at your competitor so you get a weight reduction AND hopefully take him out as well....when the size of your manhood is at stake, and you just bet your girl's ass that you could smoke that supra.....you know....every-day situations that everyone on this forum encounters every day.......i know i do......

i dunno..what do you guys think?

Honda's in general, are trendy, unless you actually do some form of racing.
