Well someone was in our neighborhood driving down the street and hit my parked Prelude. We have to park along the street by the way. The guy was drunk and tried to talk me into not calling the cops, I said NO WAY! Here are before/after pictures. What are your insights? How much will this be to get fixed, the car only has 64,000 miles! Very rare, bought from an old lady who babied it and was the only other owner. I can't fix this fully, it will always have this on the Car Fax, which will hurt me in the long term. Advice? Is it totaled? Thanks!
PS: And yes, that is a Type S lip and NEW DEPO headlights!
Ahh man that sucks!! Sorry to heat that. I wouldn't say the car is totaled by anymeans. It just seems to be the front/fender on one side right?? What was he driving?? Did he end up going to jail?? I hate drunks!!!
Wow, It sucks seeing your lude in that condition after seeing how mint it looked in your other picture thread. I honestly have no clue how much it will cost; but I'm sure you will have it looking better than new in no time. Good luck.
its a matter of replacing parts essentially. the only thing to worry about in the long run would be a ****ed suspension on that side, if the damage is more than it seems.
just dont give up. you'll get money from his insurance and yours and it should be more than enough. i'd suggest taking the money and trying to fix it on your own because insurance has a knack for writing EVERYTHING off as a total. their shops go for the most expensive parts and something minor always ends up being major.
with that, look at the classifieds section and get your parts from Crazy97lude. he has two preludes up for parts and i'm pretty sure he still has an entire suspension on that side on one or the other.
I wish they would total it, that car isn't worth what it was to me now. I paid high dollar for the car because it was a CarFax clean 1 owner car. Now that is irrelevant for resale. I will probably take it to Honda so that way it will be so expensive it will be totaled or it will be fixed right.
PS: Another thing I noticed, when I got my registration out of my glove box, it doesn't latch correctly now. Almost like it does close in the frame like it used to, I hope if I have to have it fixed, that will be too, makes me think the frame/body is messed up. The guy that hit it left 75 feet of skid marks till he stopped, so I know he was flying. It actually pushed my car over the curb into the grass.

These guys seem HIGHLY optimistic... totalling it is the right move if you can. There is a high chance that there will be something that can't be fixed just right.. and maybe it would be as simple as it pulling... but anytime there is axle damage to that level, it can damage so many things... Just isn't worth the chance that you spend the money to fix it, and are never happy again.
By the way... I have no idea how clean it was, ect... you said you paid alot... but a 2001 shouldn't cost more than 11k in awesome condition.. just gotta be firm. May depend where you are... but shouldn't be "high" dollar... maybe medium dollar.

The headlights actually didn't even get a scratch. However, the mounting tabs are what I would be worried about. Because the headlight was pushed by the fender into the hood. So I'm not sure. I will update you tomorrow.
