Smokin @ vtec

Searched the threads didn't get a for sure answer,
Noticed that when i go into vtec in my rear view i noticed some smoke as im pullin away. I read that this is normal because the stock ECU's make it run "rich" but im looking for clarification/explanation on this. Soon I will be installing P28 and get a tune, hopefully after that it will prevent that? Give me some insight.

May be bad rings, could be running rich, but the color of the smoke will help tell you which.

I suggest you get your motor tuned and go from there. I think you already know a fair amount about motors, or at least enough to know what to do next and make progress.
Tune the car and see if the smoke at vtec is still an issue.

It's normal, the stock ECU does make them all run rich to keep them safe from detonation, you can tune a stock Honda and gain power by leaning it out some.

Yup... I've never seen a prelude that didn't have the black dots on the rear end after hitting vtec a few times (including a low mileage one an ex boss of mine purchased)
