Slave Cylinder party!

YEaaaahhh. So my 98 SH has been running like a champ since I got her last December, and suddenly today I go out to take a spin, and oh, whats this, the clutch just goes right to the floor like a breeze, no resistance what so ever Funny, because I just drove this reliable coach just last night.

So after some research and calling Honda, I conclude its my slave cylinder. Leakage on the cylinder confirms this, so I go get the new parts and grab my tools, open the hood and go to work.

I decide to go at it, even though I should have called my midget friend and his 3 year-old sized hands, because friends and fellow Prelude owners, this part is in NO FVCKING WAY accessible by a grown human being.

So I get the 2 bolts holding the thing on, and I realize.. hmm, I have no leverage to get the clutch line out. So I screw the cylinder back on, but soon realize that it doesn't matter because the ***** won't come off anyways. So after trying every tool and angle I can muster, I give up. A supposid "15-20 minute job" becomes a trial of fury.

Anyone have any tips on how to get the clutch line off, besides spending $300 at Honda?

Is it really that stuck? I just changed my slave cylinder 2 days ago. It came out with no problems. If you need more room to work I recomend taking out your radiator fan. That way you have a little more room to work with plus you can get some more leverage. I would get a crows foot wrench so you don't strip that nut.

I tried to take the radiator out, but I couldn't figure out where all the connections were; it was getting dark too, so I decided to wait until tomorrow to try again. But yeah, the radiator coming off would generally guarantee victory!

Just to be sure, the clutch line UNSCREWS right? I would feel like a dumbass if it pulled out or something.

You mean flare nut wrench. I used a 10mm flare nut wrench and the line came loose no problem. I suggest you pick up a set if you will be working on your car more. They come in handy for brakes lines & fuel line.
