i say take em off, but there is always the risk of getting in trouble..i doubt you'd get in trouble for your tags though, unless the cop is looking to be a dick...good thing i have jersey plates here in maryland

i say take it off and keep it off, just keep the license plate with the frame somewhere inside your car. if you get pulled over, just tell the cop that it just fell off and that you are going to get it put back on this weeked.

i may be the only one who think the plate doesn't ruin the car's appearance much. it's not worth the trouble, especially in my area, fremont, or the whole bay area is pretty up tight about fixed up cars, they'll pull you over for light bulbs, no front plates or whatever then start opening up your hood. hope that's not your case and if you drive sanely most of the time you can probably get away without the front plate.

I heard somewhere that if you have the plate on your dash you will still get a ticket cause its not on the outside of the car. Maybe its just here in cali.
I was lucky also when I bought the lude the dealer asked me if I wanted them to drill the holes and I was like hell no!
Now I've been driving for over 2 years and never had a problem till I drove up to Palos Verdes Estates and a stupid cop busted a U to pull me over. My excuse was that I don't have any holes so I couldn't put the plates on. So he let me go.. It's great to be a girl...
Oh and once I got pulled over for a loud exhaust and the cop asked if I took out my cat and I was like, "Whats a Cat?" So he let me go.. heheh.. lol

When I lived in New Brunswick, I tried leaving the plate off - got nailed within 30 minutes of the decision on my way to work. Yay. Moved back to Nova Scotia, no front plate! Looks awesome if you want to run the risk of the fine.

Has anyone tried hiding it underneath where the grill is.. I've seen some nice eclipses done like that.

Take it off... much cleaner look. I just put my front plate on my sun visor with some rubberbands and just flip the visor out to display the plate. Just an idea.

i live here in central cali, and i've had one ticket for no license plate....$10 fix-it ticket. but i've heard that on the 2nd offense for the same thing, it is a mandatory $250 fine. FOR A FREAKIN LICENSE PLATE!!!!

Also, if any of you people out there that go clubbin' or out and *drink a few*, watch out. that could be a police officer's excuse for pullin you over. then he finds no seatbelt on, tinted front windows, a screen on your dash workin as you drive, etc........or that you smell like alcohol. then you get the *horrible* B.A.C. tests. I know from experience, i had that happen to me once, but thank God, I was spared. Oh: the reason why I got pulled over at 2:00AM outside the club: my cleared out taillights did not have amber or red turn signals, they had the stock white/yellow color.....

For the guys here that stick it on the sun visor or something - that might not be legal. The motor vehicle act where I am states the front plate has to be mounted below 1.2m.. so I imagine there's similar provisions to check into in California.

Depending on how slammed your car is, that pretty much rules out sticking it inside the car. Depends how big of an ass the law enforcement officer wants to be, around here there's a couple guys who will go out of their way to make your life difficult. At least there's no smog rules here hehe.

Dont do it man, it's not worth it. Unless your in GA, where they don't require that ugly thing in front of the cars. Cops are mean in Va... I usually think cops are a joke, but those damn VA cops bug me... Make it like Lancer EVO. cut it up and stick it on the side of the bumper instead of up front of the bumper.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT OFF. I know it looks so much sweeter but just yesterday i got pulled over, luckly i didnt get a ticket for speeding but however i did get a ticket for no plate in da front, it was a $50 fee. If u want to lose $50 everytime u get caught go ahead. I even told da cop i didnt know it was illegal and i would put it on now, he still gave me a ticket, it really sucks
