Should I install my h&r's before i get my kyb's? also a camber question
My 98 base has 40xxx miles on it... Do you think I should install them and drive it until the stock shocks go, or just wait till i get the kyb's before installing(btw a shop will be doing the install, not me)
Is there anything bad about riding on the spring with stock shocks, or just that the shocks will be worthless after xxxx miles? The reason im asking is because I should have my h&r's this week, but wont be able to afford the kyb's until sometime in september (im going to europe for 5 weeks which is going to cost me around 3 grand), so I dont have money for struts right now
Also, about camber kits.. Do it have ANYTHING to do with the shocks, or is it only dependand on the size of the drop?
i.e if i get an alignment with my h&R's on stock shocks, and its fine, might i need to buy a camber kit when i install the kyb's?
The camber is dependent on the drop, not the shocks. If you can't afford shocks until Sept. I'd just put the springs on stock shocks. The ride isn't that bad, just a little more bouncy. The only bad part is that you will have to pay for the labor twice if you are taking it to a shop.

RIP Elliot, you will be missed
I just put my sports on two days ago. I've got a 99 sh and 38k on it. One of my front shocks was bleeding. I went ahead and did the install anyway. It's a little bouncy but not too bad. I really want shocks now. You'll be alright with the stock shocks but you'll want to swap them out before long. Hey, if you're gonna be in europe you won't be driving it anyway.
dude, when you change the springs the shock comes right out so its just a matter of slipping the shock out and placing the new one on. So that would be what, maybe 5 minutes more for @ 4 corners.
Springs and shocks: 1.5-2 hours, maybe 3 if its a newbie
by the the way, that 2/3 sh^t threw me off, 2/3= two-thrids
I'd wait till you get the shocks. Not only will you save installation cost, you'll still have your stock shocks in good shape if you ever need them.
And Dyno_Prelude is right, the amount amount of time to swap new shocks on as well is practically negligible. You have to take apart the entire assembly no matter what.
Install new springs: 2 hours
Install new shocks: 2 hours
Install springs & shocks: 2 hours
And it'll be 2 hours if you're good. Took me 7 (by myself, no air tools, no lift, no experience). I could probably do it in 5 now.
There's a guy in Connecticut who was originally recommended to me & charges $175. His nick is "PreludeGod", and you can find him on hondaprelude.com.

I dropped my car on ****ty springs by Sprint. The drop was a little more than 2". This worried me about camber and tire wear issues. Took my car to 2 alignment shops (just to be sure) and they told me my camber was right on. This puzzled me cause I've heard of Ludes w/ the puny Eibach prokit drop having camber issues. I drove on the springs w/ the stock shocks for about 4 months before i put on the AGX's. I say go for it!
