Should I buy it?

I've been wanting a 5th gen prelude, and found one here that looks decent, but I think the price is a bit high considering it has a salvage title. What do you guys think? It's got 112,000 miles on it, and a few aftermarket mods like a strut tower brace and headers. Nothing too serious. I haven't been to see it yet, since it's about an hour away, but could it be worth that much money?

I would never consider a salvage title - except to part it out. You never know what problems may pop up in the future, like a bent frame or major suspension part. The car may have the front half of one car and the rear half of another welded together to make a "new car". Ever see a car driving down the street from the rear and the rear wheels are not tracking the front wheels?

The OEM hood is designed to crumple like an accordian during a head on crash to absorb the impact to protect the driver/passengers from the hood come slicing through the windshield. Cheaper aftermarket hoods do not have this feature.

Check with your insurance company to see what they say.

Pass on the salvage title and search for a vehicle that has been well maintained by the previous owner, preferably with receipts for parts and/or labor. And remember the old saying - "you get what you pay for".

even if there are no current problems, you need to be careful, especially with a salvage and especially with power mods, cause there is a good chance that since whoever did mods, that it was someone's rice rocket that they just beat the hell out of, and now its starting to show its age so he's dumping it....

you never know, but depending on why its salvage, and how it is, thats a very reasonable price especially aroun where i live
