Im looking into getting a DC Sports short shifter for my '01 lude. Is it worth the $100+? Also, does anyone know of any good websites to pick one of these up or even if there are any better than DC Sports? Thanks.
I love my Pure shortie. Spent quite some time modifying the console, shift boot and lever...so don't do it if your not willing.
People have mixed reviews on ALL makes of these short shift adapters. My best advise would be to read all the comments here on this board (do a search on "Pure" or "short shift") and then make ur own decision. Ultimately, your taking a chance... each Lude's shift linkage has slightly different positions and angles, so sometimes they work great and sometimes they dont. Also, it comes down to driving style...u cant force the shift lever into gear, even more important not to do so with an adapter installed because it does put extra stress on the cable (some cables have busted).
I bought the Pure Racing one mainly because its adjustable and had mostly good reviews. There was a group buy recently ($80) and i think there will be another... do a search in the Classified section.
I have a SOLO short shift adapter on mine and I liike it. Gives the shifts a more defined feel to me. It seems slightly shorter but you will only notice if you really know the feeling of driving your car. They are all but identical to the DC adapter and sell for about $75 shipped

i suggest that you keep driving your car and get to know the linkages quite well 1st, before you buy a shortie adapter. because with it installed, it will change slightly... so jamming the shifter into gears = breaking things
i have the pure shifter adapter and love it. the gates are more defined, BUT it is also a bit notchier. passengers in my car might think i'm jamming the shifter hard into each gear, but it is not so. i very much baby it (although quick ) and performed heel-n-toe, double clutch, and just about everything to keep my tranny intact.

Pure Short Shifter you would have to buy used unless they do another run of them. Check the 4-sale forum. If not you can get the DC and SOLO from cementups.
Ok. So i've already known that i'm not gonna install any kind of shortie adapter because. I've heard to many mixed reviews. Has anybody cut down their shift lever? I think ntpog has a write up on this, but I would think that by doing this, you would risk making the throw require more effort because the shorter the lever, the less leverage you have. Can anyone confirm this?

mine is cut about 1" AND i have installed the pure adapter... it does take a little more effort, but the increase is very slight. after a while, you get used to it.
ive heard about too many of these short shift adapters breaking the cable for the tranny a lot faster than usual...so in my opinion...i aint getting it...happy as is
