Short Ram Intake is AWESOME

.........to those who knock on the short ram intakes for the prelude............. ...........I had the aem cold air intake..but ever since i bought the top fuel power chamber intake....my car has better response. compared to the cold air....the air flow is so much better...........in my opinion cold air sucks

u have better response because it take less time for the air to go from the filter into the IM.. thats why sri has more feel bottom end.. but CAI is good for top end

Short Ram

What website did you get it from?...How is the sound compared to the AEM CAI (especially once it hits VTEC)?...I know you said that it felt like you got some good low end gains with it, but what about high end???

who gives a **** about "japan", i mean ya, all that jdm **** is nice but lets not jump on the bandwagon like everyone else and do **** for yourself not because everyone in "japan" does it. dont get me wrong, i love jdm ****, personally its the cleanest and nicest but when you push it as far as saying ^^^^ it gets out of hand imo.

Oh yeah I remember- You are the guy who bought that intake, that had a giant ultra JDM carbon fiber chamber on it-

I showed my roomate the picture, and the thread....he laughed to say the least.

We searched for that product, and did a little research on it. Not only did we find that the chamber is ultimately useless and the product has received terrible reviews, but it also costs 300+....for just an intake!!! I can't get over the fact that you actually IMPORTED an intake from japan...

The CAI versus Short Ram intake debate is so stupid when it comes to preludes. I have an AEM CAI, but id accept an Ebay intake just the same.

I know all of what you said is in your own opinion..i guess im just trying to say your opinion sucks

I love my type S.. and yep.. it's jdm.. Adds nice torque down low, and i dont have any loss in top end.. I have owned both the aem cai, and an injen short ram.. And this one is the best for me.. I am curious to try out the iceman cai though.. given it's design..

Isnt the stock intake pretty much cold air?? the way it's designed?? The air piping isnt short... Like some vehicles... And then the resonator has a butterfly valve that closes one side of the resonator at low rpms, for torque, then opens both for high rpms for top end.. Smart design if u ask me.. But to each his own.. I tried both and like the type S. my car hasnt felt this responsive and smooth in years.. I did comtemplate making an air box around the short ram.. but to me that's just about the same as removing the resonator with the stock intake filter sucking air right in the hole where the resonator and air filter box connect.. My car felt "hesitant" before with the short ram.. SPECIALLY on HOT days

I've had a variety of intakes and I have different opinions on all of them. My ebay short ram worked great after I put a K&N filter on it, definately had a great sound and I was able to completely bury the speedometer with nothing more than that intake, testpipe, and a canister muffler. Now with the stock cat and stock intake I can't even get past 145. I noticed good torque with the big chamber intake, and a smoother overall throttle response with the cold air extension. The biggest power producer was probably the short ram but the best overall torque/hp intake was the chamber. I've also done cold air setups on the short ram which worked great for most driving, but at high speeds it was slightly restrictive. Here are some pics so you can see all the different intakes I've tested:

The Top Speed big chamber intake and K&N are for sale if anyone is interested. I'll sell them together for $50 plus shipping.

This is what I'm using now, all stock because it looks the best

the last intake reminds me of the type S in design except the part that widens is close to the intake manifold, it's metal, and it has a bigger filter.. I say whatever u think works best.. go with it.. I dont see any point in argueing over it. But if u want a LOUD intake.. Go with shortram. cant argue that at all.. the sound was hair raising... I heard the V2 before..

I have the type-s intake with the K&N panel filter and a removed resonator. Before i had an AEM short ram. the type-s is definitely quieter and throttle response is just smoother throughout the powerband imo. another thing to consider is that the type-s uses almost the same airbox as the oem one does so it doesn't absorb heat like a short ram would.
