shock knock, shock replacement, and soliciting pointers :)

so, i have a 98 non-sh prelude that has a case of shock knock that both the faqs here, or two mechanics can't pinpoint or cure. my last mechanic confirmed my suspicions and thinks that my KYBs (8 years old) are starting to go. so, time to think about replacements...

i track the car a few times a year, and an autocross maybe, but it's mostly my daily driver. i've got ground controls on it already, and plan on re-using them. to save money, i'm not looking at full coilover setups, just shocks. a firm ride isn't a problem... i just don't want harsh.

so, there's a lot out there w/regards to shocks, and i have no other experience w/many of the different brands out there except for older KYBs and konis.

should i go for koni yellows? re-vavled reds? is there something out there that's just a 'great' piece of gear that i'm unaware of?

thanks in advance....

bump, no one uses shocks anymore?

i know it's mostly a subjective topic, but i'd like to hear some folks' opinions.

thanks!

hehe, i'm pretty much planning on getting them, and am/was kinda hoping that someone bursts forth with some revelation about a different brand.
