SH vs. base bottom end

I'm looking into buying a built engine to swap into my car. My question is are the base and SH motors the same on both the head and bottom end? If not, is the swap still possible and what would have to be done?

The SH block is different. As far as I know, the internals are the same.

well that being said, do you have any idea how much of a job it would be to either remove the atts altogether, or adapt the base block to accomodate atts? I just think i found a great deal on a motor built for FI and don't wanna turn it down if i can make it work.

I know people have done modifications to get a base tranny to bolt up to an SH block to rid themselves of ATTS, but I don't know about getting a base block to work with an SH tranny.

Why would u want ATTS with FI? It doesn't work if I remember correctly under boost.

I know the ATTS can't handle the torque put out by FI, which leads me to my next question. Can the ATTS be removed and still have use of the SH transmission, or do I need to get a base model trans. also?

the atts fuse can be unplugged, but then you've got some dead weight hanging around. Solves the problem, but it's just weight that can be removed.
