SH Sides/Rear difference?

Hey Luders

I have already done a search on this and I just come up with classified threads.
Can anyone tell me the difference between the sh sides/rear and base? Is there a special coating to make the paint stick? Do I have to buy sh sides/r and repaint them?

My shop that is going to paint my car said it will stick for a while.....That's it and it will flake off...they also said $200 to make it all good......I remember this before with someone.Their shop told them the same thing.

I know I know .....just get OEM kit or RS. Just thinking of some options.....I do not want to drop 9bills and crack it on these mass streets.

Thanks,
Jay

the paint won't flake off...I painted my base rears to match my Mugen rears and everything seems fine . I think the main thing is sanding it flat and getting a good primer.

The base sides have some texture to them while the SH sides are smooth. I don't know whether they are different material or not, it's possible. But if it's a decent shop they will know how to handle it - I also had my base rears painted for the Mugen sides and the paint has held up just fine.

I have a set of sides and a rear piece from a base model if anyone is interested. They are in decent shape.

One of the sides has a scrape on the underside that you will not be able to see once it is mounted on a car. It does not affect the structural integrity of the part at all. Heh.. I've always wanted to say "structural integrity"
