SH Shift Boot VS Base Shift Boot

Do these have any differences besides the ring at the top? I just bought a Mugen shift knob and was wondering if the ring on the top of the SH would work ok with the Mugen.

If I bought the SH shift boot, would it come with the ring or do I have to buy the SH shift knob?

I would rather get a G2 Integra ring to replace your base silver ring

YES! There are differences. The boot "frames" are identical but the shift boot itself is slightly different. The SH is stitched for a more tapered fit due to the smaller ring at the top (and YES it comes with the ring attached).

I didn't think u could just buy the boot alone...thought u had to buy the SH knob which comes with the new boot. Don't know if the Mugen knob would work with the SH ring.

you can buy the G2 teg boot for $25 or go to junkyard to pick up one. the Civics has the same rings too.

or you can buy RSX knob. it comes with one.

it is loose. but it is held by a piece of a strip of towel, so that the boot stays at a position

notice the white thing on the lever

Ya, the only thing I don't like about it is that it's loose....but I think I coudl fix that. Maybe wrap a crapload of tape ... enough to make it stable.

You can buy the SH boot, I purchased it to see if it would work any better with my mugen knob. The answer is definately no. Get the Teg/civic ring and use it. It doesn't really matter what boot you use with the ring, both look fine (I'm using the base boot with the civic ring as we speak). The only thing I did different than ywwong was I flipped the ring over since I didn't like the look of the top of the ring (the bottom side is smooth). I don't have anything under the boot right now to hold it up but it says in place just fine.

I used some black rubber o rings, it holds the boot in place nicely. It actually looks really good if you hold the silver SH ring at the top touching the shift knob (almost factory).

hey gabe, did you shorten your stock shift lever? I got the pure racing shortie and a mugen knob and was wondering if I should shorten the stick.

first thing first.. you have to take out the whole center console.. which is really easy.. www.handa-accessories.com has instructino of how to do it.

you flip the console... take out the boot. take out the ring and use the civic/teg ring. you will know what i m talking about after you take the console off and take a look at it. if you still don't know what i m talking about.. PM me.

Nope, I didn't feel like cutting down the shift lever and then having to by a dye to rethread the lever so I left it stock. It's a big enough improvement for me. Plus the mugen knob is a lot shorter than the stock knob so you get some reduction in throw from that. But I didn't like how small it was so I sold it and bought a spoon knob. It's just about perfect, for me.
