Hi all, so as I said in my previous post, I'm in the market for a new clutch. I called around and was quoted around $1100 or so, or about 800ish for labor if I provide my own clutch. They said the ATTS adds about 3.8 hours of labor to the job. Is it that much more difficult to work on these bastards?
Seriously, the least I got was 700ish, without parts... Everyone is saying because its an SH it will be a ***** to get out, almost an extra hour and a half to get it off and and back on.
almost an extra hour and a half to get it off and and back on.
Sounds about right.
And I'm not surprised at the 3.8 hour quote either - for a mechanic that may never have done an SH (a very distinct possibility), they'd probably have to quote that much in order to not get hosed on their labor rates.
I did it my SH on my own in about 12 hrs. I think book time is around 8-10 hrs from the factory.

Buying a new car would be 1000x easier . . . but if you ask me it's a little overkill.
Dropping the front crossmember takes less than 10 minutes, and gives you all the clearance in the world to get the tranny in and out (I was able to do it by myself, with no lift or tranny jack).
also be careful on not breaking the ATTS sensor so expensive unless u find a used one, drove my car with no ATTS more than 2 months. But yeah it cost a lot to replace the clutch I was quoted $14oo by local honda stealership,$1200 by a known shop but luckily I have a mechanic friend that did it for less tha $500. gl
