ok......i wanted to buy an sh but then i bought base and now i would never own an sh...not that they are not good but they are very tuner unfreindly... to get the base to do almost the same thing just put a type s lsd in or a quiffe or kaaz lsd. If you still cannot tel what yours is by the serial number or what not or if the motor has been swapped to a base engine, then get ubneder your car and look by the oil pan....if you see another box on the left side of the oil pna htis is the ATTS unit and yours is an sh. My Base came with a spoiler light and a leather wheel and shift knob so do not use only these thing to tell. Also if you know your engines than you will be able to tell when you pop the hood as the oil filter is is a different location than normal. To each thier own but i am much happier with the base model than i am with the sh or se 's. As for the cam lobes being more aggressive, i have read that as the years go up in the prelude the engine gets tuned and tweaked slightly, but i have also reads that the 1997 base models have highest lift of the bb6 ludes....not to sure if it is true or not and it is almost impossible to tell with out having to rip apart both engine side by side and do direct comparison. The sh's and the euro type s's have the highest stock output but also the lowest potetial for output as the atts can only handle so much, also it is far more difficult to put add ons onto the sh's. Also if you have and sh and want to do the suspension, then you will make it worse by buying an aftermarket, the sh suspesions are unreal and i wish i could have the susp in my base....lol
ps my base wieghs, with me in it and i weigh 215, 2913 lbs, i still have the slip from the weigh station, not sure what sh has but preludes are pretty heavy as it is
