what can you do to fix the rattling problem?

help!
There is a spray you can buy from PEP Boys. I do not know what it is called - Maybe undercarraige spray. It is rubbery and will probably deaded the vibration. I doubt yout exhaust is hot enough to burn that stuff off the heat (not cat) shield under the car.

As for Header covers - I belive it is for (1) a cooler engine and (2) to trap the heat around the headers so that you get what we call an exhaust heat scavenging effect. This keeps the velocity of the exhaust gas up - simmilar to the wraps.

Using anything to dampen the actual heat shield is not worth the danger involved. If you want to Dynamat/Cascade or whatever brand of dampening material you want to use-there are only afew areas that you need to actually apply the stuff to. Only in extreme cases would you need to dothe trunk lid. Take a look at cascadeaudio.com and dynamat.com and give them a call for advice. You will find that a few well placed strips will solve a lot of your problem.
