sad story!!

Well today is a bad day! Has I was coming home from school today, I had a bit of traffic, and decided to stay approximately 1 1/2 car lenght away from the front minivan driver. Well about 2 minutes away from my house, I was emerging into the exit lane to go through a shortcut. The minivan in front of me was also emerging into the right lane, and all of a sudden he yanks his car back into the left lane to dodge the Humongous Truck tire that was laying on the ground. All of a sudden, my reactions start kicking in, and little did I know, my reactions were not fast enough to dodge the tire and my right front lip was all scratch up with tire mark, and was hanging to its side. The side of my car was scratch by the metal threads of the tire and a bit of my back bumper was also scratched up(unknown reaction). Well anyways, I think I'm going to stop modifying my car for now, and Will be saving my money to buy a new car. I hate today, **** this bull****, and I hope none of you have to go throught what I gone through!

Keep the LUDE

Man scratched paint is no reason to ditch the LUDE. Save and buy a body kit and get it repainted.

It's not the cars fault.....you're just too slow in reacting.....even the soccer mom in the minivan out manuevered you

I hate that shiet!!!

With my old integra...I ran into SOOOO many tire peels (well two to be exact). Although both incidents didn't destroy my fiberglass bumper, it cracked and chipped it like a mofo. It was always, ALWAYS because I was behind some SUV or minivan and couldn't see past him until it was too late (they usually just ran over it).

I feel your pain You'll get over it though...

That's nothing man, listen to this:

I just had my Eibach's at the time with stock wheels. I was talking to this guy who worked near my job and he had a set of 17's( I don't even remember what kind, this was almost three years ago). I didn't really have the money to spend anyway, but he was offering a good price. The catcher was I didn't think they would fit anyway because they had 215's on them with +40(maybe +38) offset and I was just humoring him
He worked at Allied tires, so he could have them put on for free. I told him to just put on the rears since that is where it's most likely to rub.
The funny part is while the installer was putting them on we both said to him "Now, these aren't going to fall off right??"

So I go on my little test drive and everything was fine and when I'm within a one or two hundred yards from the store on my way back going around a curve at about 40mph(It was a very quite street-little traffic ever) to make sure they didn't rub under compression, ALL TEN REAR LUGS BROKE OFF THE BOLTS.

Dropping my car on its ass with no rear wheels. I did a 360, luckely I was able to keep it in the middle of the street. I thought the whole rear was F'd, I thought the exhaust, brakes, bumper and everything was screwed.

It ended up costing only about $3000 though(Suspension peices and body work). The Honda engineering must have thought about this happening, because just about everything under the car ended up touching the ground, but in a way thatthe force was evened out.

Anyway, the point is that I still drive the car today, and one little accident isn't worth dumping a Prelude. You'll be sorry that you did eventually.

Does money grow on trees for you?? Damn, a new car just cause it has a few scratches on it? Dude, take it to a body shop; they will be able to fix it and you're not even going to be able to notice what happened. All this is part of owning a car... just like door dings and rock chips.

I guess I'm a perfectionist, so little things bother me like Krazy. Well, I'll guess I'll take your advice and cool off for a while, see how I feel in a bout a couple of weeks. It is in everyones reaction to feel overdramatic when it comes to knicks and knacks on the cars but i love it so much that I don't want it to be messed up. Well anyways, thankz for the support guys, I appreciate it.

Dude, keep your car. I had a similar accident this past weekend. I was following this punkass BMW on the center lane with a couple of car lengths between the two cars. This sh*thead BMW driver all of a sudden ducked to the left lane... Now all of a sudden I saw a huge metal cabinet on the center lane coming up fast at 70+ mph. I tried to dodge it, but i ended up doing a 540 and ended up two lanes over at the break down lane (luckily). My whole passenger door is dented from the impact. The BMW dodged the object at the very last second that he could and I know he saw it long before he dodged it. To make the story short, I know he did this on purpose trying to make me crash into it. If you wanna know, I let u on the details later

I just got 4500 in damage to the drivers side.....its all cosmetic. I should come out with a body kit, shaved emblems, and 4500 bucks poorer.

You should have hit the cabinet.
Swerving/veering @ 70mph is going to cause more trouble/damage and is more dangerous than hitting it. Same with wild life; if you're ripping along, NEVER swerve to avoid a deer/dog/whatever.

Wow...

Aaron97SH's story is worrying me. I'm planning on fitting a set of Borbet 17x7.5's w/45mm offset on 215's in a few months.

Does this mean that the stock wheel bolts are too short to hold a larger wheel? Are they too brittle to handle the added stress of a wider track?

I've banged up my car once and had it fixed. I'm having shoddy brake work repaired now. I'd hate to buy a new set of wheels and have the wheel bolts snap off on me.

Scary thought.

Little OLD ladys $uck a$$

Last night....VALENTINES DAY. Got of work on the way to my GF house to give her flowers. I'm dead STOP at a RED LIGHT ....thats RED LIGHT. .....WHAM....A benz (like a 99) Hits me form behind pretty hard. I get out like sooo mad...adrenalin rush. I could care less if i feel any pain except or the pain of just having my car messed up. So this old lady backs up rolls down her window..turns on her high beems and says to me OH dont worry there is nothing wrong. I'm like yes there is....My bumper is all scratched up (lil did i know there were more damage under the bumpr..met all bent up and stuff) She tells me its nothing and that i should just wash the car with WARM water and it will come off. There are shreads of plastic hangin from the bumper...she tells me to wash it off with WARM water. I called the cops. She tell the cops what happen and refuses to pay for damages. SHe told me that she would give me $2 thats right TWO DOLLARS to have ti washed and it will come off. I was like ARE YOU F_G KIDDING ME YOU F__G TWAT. You gona pay for all the damages. She say is front of me and the cop. I got money so I'm going through insurance. I was like crap. The reason is I'm not suppose to drive this car (my lude) cause my parents told insurance company that i was away in school and the car was a grocerry getter for my mom. So we filled out the accident report and here is the kicker.....the cop said that it was my fault that i stopped short and wasnt paying attention. That the lady was not at fault. SHe wrote that down on police report. I toild the cop thats not what i told you what happen. I have witness that saw everything. Cops tells me she dont care(it was a woman cop) and that the report is already done. The insurance company will settle this out...mainly its going to be mostly my fault 70 30 split. Benz did not have a single scratch. SO when i got home i told my dad ....he called the insurance company...they said they kicking us out...since i was driving the car and we had 2 previous HIT AND RUNS...so we are bed drivers. WE are bad drivers cause 2 of our cars where HIT AND RUN. Whaaaaat???? How messed up is that. So now my dad is pissed at me that i even called the cops and that i should have paid out of my own money to get the car repainted and fixed.

The thing that i'm mostly dissapointed about is that I was suppose to be putting in my entire suspension on the car next week. Now I think I'm gonna sell of everytning and just drive it bone stock. GOD....you spend sooo much time and money fixing your car up and it takes one LIL OLD FART TO MESS IT UP FOR YOU....plus the inssurance is SKY ROCKETING UP....plus no more inssurance with the same
company. sorry guys just venting.. sorry

Dude, get a lawyer and do it fast. In this country anyhow if someone hits you from behind they are automatically at fault. I don't know what you said to the cop, but that lady should have been in control of her vehicle. That's why I leave mad room between me and the guy in front. Get a legal opinion, and don't say anything to cops, ever.

That really is the pits. Yes, you have to watch what you say, but I cannot see how a situation like that could be turned around on you. How does a person create their own problem by stopping "too short" at a red light and cause an old idiot in their retirement car to hit you?
I've met some very courteous and good officers that I highly respect, but I know well that many of them are still just as human and fractured as the rest of us. I'm a 21 year old driving a fairly new two-door sports coupe. There are some people who really resent what I've got and would abuse their power to take it out on me if given the opportunity. Some people suck and should be given a little of the 'ol blackmail treatment (not that I endorse such an action in any way shape or form )

Definitely get a laywer if you can afford to. If not then you've got to roll with it. There may not be a whole lot you can do after all of this. You might still be able to enjoy that suspension upgrade later though. Just wait on installing it.

I am a perfectionist as well. I ride sport bikes and whenever I would drop a bike and get even the minorist of scratches on it I would sell it as if it was diseased. Anyway, don't look at this as a bad thing. Look at it as if God is ordering you to get a body kit as fast as you can. Everytime you look at the nasty scratches it will make you work that much harder to have a truly original bad a$$ Lude.
