RPM related Oil pressure Light

Before i get flamed for not doing thread searching, i spent over a week tryin to find a similiar thread, but none like mine.

a month ago my balance shalf belt snapped on my while i was driving. Took the timing cover off, and the belt keys were everywhere. I went ahead and replaced cam seals, crankseal, balance seal, water pump, auto tensior, and both belt.I cranked the car up and everything was fine with no lights on * beside all my engine mounts, lifting and lower the engine killed them lol * I did an oil change ( used 5w-30 instead of 10w-30) and used motor flush because old oil was full of pollen from valve cover being off for 3 weeks.

After doing the oil change, low pressure oil light came on while the car was idling. I turned off the car, checked the oil level and it was full. Cranked up again and everythign was good. drove it about 10 miles and the light came on again. Oil level still good. Now whenever my rpm is below 2k, light comes on. Also when its idle and i tap the gas the light goes out, even if it doesnt go above 2k rpm. I have replaced the oil sending unit switch and didnt do no good. i have not taken the oil pan out and looked at screen yet, but im thinkin oil pump. car has 240k miles. Any help would be loved

Sounds liek you have a spun bearing on the balance shaft; if i was you i woudlnt drive the vehicle anymore, jsut remove the timign cover and the oil pump and remove the balance shaft to see if the bearings are gone. Also, if you are not sure then remove your vtec solenoid and check the screen for metal particulate, as if the bearing has spun then all the particles will egt caught in the screen(take a magnet and hold it to the paticles, if they are steel then that means they come from a bearing, if there are non ferrous then that means that it is fromm the oil pump, the block itself, or on the odd occasiont eh sleeves walls have crumbled and fallen intot he oil. Anytime your oil pressure light comes on a a honda and there is no leak it usually means there is a major failure within the engine itself. The tolerances on honda engines are very tigth and any oil pressure drop is usually a sign of an internal failure(main bearings, balance shaft bearing, oil pump failure, etc....)

well thats not comforting at all. i just had my head off and all the timing components and what not were changed but sometimes my car idles low after going into neutral (400-500 rpms) and the oil pressure light will flicker on and off and fade on and off. but i have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge installed and it will still read 30ish psi when this happens... *scratches head*

yes 30 psi at anywhere above 200 rpm is a very bad thing, you have an internal loss of rpessure that i woud think is comign form a bad bearing somehwere, in your case due to the belt snapping ont he balance shaft i would asssume teh balance shaft has goten jammed and tahst why the belt broke, which would lead me to think you have a mearing failure on one of the three balance shaft bearing mains.

I had a similar issue to this two winters ago, my oil ligth woudl ocme on and the car woudld rve, the vtec wouldnt work and then i took teh solenoid off and found it full of metal, then i proceeded to remove the balnce shaft and found it was seized right up. Ended up getting a new block and rebuilding teh whoel thign in my garage(well aside form machine workl and some other **** )

where is the vtech solenoid at. When i was doing my timing, both pulleys were spinning fine ( balance and oil pump). But basically your saying take off the oil pump then balance shaft. Will i visibly be able to see it gone or do i have to go searching inside.

Also if my balance shaft would have seized up, wouldn't that cause the belt to squeel real loud due to it turning on a non moving part, and wouldn't my oil pump not turn at all, like the serpentine belts do when an ac compressor seizes up?. just asking
