Rim Question

I know these rim questions has been beaten to death over and over. After running a search thru the forum, I'm still confused on the OFFSETs of the rims. I'm planning to get some rims 17x7 and I think the offset is 40mm with 205/40/17 tire. My current suspension is stock. My question is will I have any problem with these rim on stock suspension?

Also any advise on spring and shock setups?

Thanks,
TK

Are you or do you plan on lowering the car? The lower you go the more problem you'll have with offset.

Some people rub with offsets under +45. A +40 offset is pushing it, you might not rub that bad with the 205/40/17 wide tires, but it's still a risk if you ask me. I have 17x7 w/ +43 offset and 215/40/17 and I don't rub anymore since I trimmed the "rear triangles". I would look for something with at least a +42 offset.

I'm not planning to lower my car anytime soon. So even with stock suspension this will still rub?

From reading the many posts, is it safe to say the lower the offset number the farther the will will stickout?
