Review/Write-up: JDM 5th Gen Hood Insulator

Yes ladies and gentleman...fellow POers... it's another Prelude Community first by me... ludehawk

This is a review and install write-up for the JDM 5th Gen (BB6/8) hood insulator.

Beaty hooked me up with it...
http://www.preludeonline.com/showthr...hreadid=159571
$110 shipped to my door
(quantities are limited )

Fair warning... my site is down so I'm using Imagestation.

Installation was easy... no real write-up to it lol...
Installation time: 2 min
Here is how you recieve it... with all of the writing too lol

1. open the bish up... you'll get this...

The fiber insulator... and 11 clips... which are:

2. open your hood (you need a picture? ) and clean, wax the underside of the hood.
3. Slide the 2 small openings at the bottom of the insulator onto the ones on the underside of the hood...

4. then push the 2 clips that are already on the insulator into the hood...

there are 2 of them.
5. Push the 11 clips into the holes.
voila.. you are done.

Review:
The products fitment is perfect!! Like OEM
Beaty said the product is designed to help quiet the engine and help smother an engine fire... well... I bought it for the sole purpose to shut my damned CAI up

The product did just that... that annoying sucking noise I had w/ my CAI is practically gone... yes I still hear it... but when I downshift, rev-match or the like... it's quiet... about 400% less annoying lol.

The build quality is great... it is made out of a dense/feather-weight fiber board... it's strong (well not too strong ) and weather resistant...
take a look @ the fiber on the back...

The front is covered with a felt like material... it looks great!
...

Well the product did what I wanted it too... quiet my damned CAI down... do I'm 100% satisfied... oh, I forgot... it's JDM yo

Any questions/comments...have at em

oh... and plug for my Mugen Condoms I got in too

again, thanks for reading oh, and it's imagestation... add orig.jpg for the larger ****ty pics lol.

VTEC is still loud you ricers

It's just the intake sucking noise is almost gone... when you downshift... when you hit the gas... that noise is alot less.

I'll try to get a vid clip or something. Inside and out of the sound.

Ya, I forgot... EDM ludes did recieve this piece, oops lol.

I can't believe your cars didn't come with a hood insulator stock :wtf:

Looks good though... that is probably the most well constructed hood insulator I've ever seen...

More weight for the lude though... give that tq a workout

seems to me like another "jdm-ness, yo" fad, just like the
cupholders and ashtrays that serve no purpose other than being "jdm"

jk, take no offense

hey jay. wish i knew you were ordering. i might have dug up enough pennies and we could have split the shipping

looks great. kinda wished it covered the whole skeleton area (like most cars). will this work on a cf hood? so does it quiet down the engine noise too?

oh yea, very nice sig lovin' the new fogs.

It did what I wanted it to do... 100% functional IMO

People don't smoke in your backseat?

Sorry Roger... didn't see you snuck in there.

Oh, sorry... I wanted to get a review and everything before NPM. He will start shipping soon

It did cut alot of the engine noise, also made the hood sound more 'secure' when closing it. If the frame is the same on CF hoods, then it should work. At NPM I plan to find out which hoods it will work with
