Replacing my 100,000+ mile h22a4 w/ new h22a4

Hello all, I have a 97 SH with 108,000 miles on it, it eats oils like crazy and the gas mileage is terrible (about 250-260 to the tank). The only mods i have are DC ceramic header and Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust piping with a stock muffler.

My friend just had his h22a4 powered 00 civic mangled by a truck (hit and run). Hes parting it out and i was wondering if its worth it to purchase the motor and tranny from him. I would either build it for a JSRC or just do a straight replacement in my lude and roll back the odometer to a suitable mileage then sell it. His motor only has 7,000 miles on it and was not damaged by the wreck. The motor came out of a 01 base prelude. He would sell me the motor for pretty cheap ($1500-2000).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

you would not really want to do a base swap into a Sh. the trannies wont bolt up. so you would need the base tranny. Im sure you would also need a base ECU. But i dont know for sure.

plus you can't roll back the odometer for any reason. The milage is still on the car, the odometer isn't there for engine purposes only.

Only 108,000 miles? H22A4's do go through oil. Are you sure your poor gas mileage isn't a result of some other issue? Have you tested your compression?
