Removing/Installing Transmission

I have a few questions about transmission removal. After all is said and done and im about to remove my transmission... the FSM says to pull the transmission away from the block and then lower it. HAH yah right. i haggled with that thing for like a half hour trying to maneuver it out. do you guys have any tips for when i reinstall it? it almost seems like it would be easier to put in the top with a cherry picker.

Also when i got it out i see these 12 star bolts holding the pressure plate on. No idea that would be there. By far the most time consuming part of this has been the lower ball joint.

yea, you need to pull the tranny out far enough to clear the input shaft. What you will have at that point is the tranny and the input shaft, then the clutch and pressure plate bolted to the flywheel.

I seem to have misread your question. You can drop it out the bottom, you just have to maneuver it. I believe you have to take the bracket off of the tranny in order to do so.

the tranny mount bracket. The aluminum cast bracket which holds the passenger side tranny mount.
