You can do a pretty good job if you use oem touchup and sand it smooth. The trick I got taught was to get pencils and cut out circles of sandpaper and glue 'em to the tops. I guess dowels might work too.. this gives you just enough area so you don't muck up the good paint.
Use a few grades from ~600 grit on the bodyfill progressively up to a 1500 grit and then some mother's scratch removed and you'll have to look hard to find the circles.
Now, removing the damn dealer sticker they put on the front I forgot about..
Thankfully, no front plates on Nova Scotia!
