redline, heard a "pop"

i was getting on the freeway a while ago and red lined for a second, heard a loud "pop" noise, car runs and drives fine. its been a while. is it possible a seal can blow or the pistons and bounce off of something but see absolutely no systems whatsoever? its been about a month and nothing "bad" has happened

lol in all honesty, taking the h22's up to redline is not that big of deal as long as the engine is well oiled and in decent condition. On the odd occasion, i have had experience in the past with previous engines where as you bring the car to VTEC there is a strange popping noise that goes away shortly. I heard this and was curious so i ripped intot he car and found that that popping noise was actually a blockage ont eh VTEC solenoid(int he upper part witht eh weight with the hole in it; the part that allows oil into the head for VTEC). What was happenign was gunk and sludge was builing up to the point where the orfice in that weight was blocked and the noise was the oil pressure building up until it reached enough forcve to dislodge the sludge.

Since i expereinced that, everytime work on my h22's i always clean the piss out of every part. Replace all teh screens, seals, ect. Alwyas good practice to have your car in good runnign order.

Now thats not to say that is the case with you however, but if your car is still runnign strong and not burning oil like a mofo then you should be good i would think.

The Preludes also run pretty rich near maximum rpm. You might have just heard a backfire...
