redline

I have a 99 Prelude and it will not redline. i have no idea whats going on it will tach up to about 6200 or so and thats it. does anyone have any ideas???

yes it is a auto. i thought about the vtec because i can hear the exaust sound change when the vtec is supposed to kick in but i dont feel the extra pull. but i dunno how to fix it if thats the problem

the problem is i dunno whats wrong to fix it. And why would i sell it i love this car and ive put alot of money into it. i just want to see if anyone knows what might be wrong and how to fix it

ppl are telling you/will tell you to sell it, more than likely, b/c the auto's have a tendency to fail. i went through it last yr and swapped it to a 5spd

yea ive herd that but ive had this car for awhile and never had problem with it plus i take very good care of it and get tranmission service done at the honda place so ill keep it till it does give me problems i love the car. but does anyone have any ideas on the reason why i posted this??

but i might also add that the cel didnt come on when my o2 censor went out so the bulb for the cel might not be working

Ok please stop with the sell it cause there is no way I'm selling it I don't care if autos have problems it's not my daily driver. Now for real does anyone have any ideas on my problem I posted this about??

If it's a VTEC not working issue, your first basic check is your oil level. If you haven't checked that yet, I'd take a step back and do that. If it's low - close to or below the lower dot - then I'd top it off and try to hit VTEC again, after the engine has warmed up of course.

Yea the only code for the cel was a o2 which I changed. The oil level should be good I just did a oil change this week but I'll check it anyway. And what about the car only hitting 6500 rpm and will not go to redline??
