I bought my car used, and the red key was given to me with the two black ones and gray one in one key chain, and the seller didn't tell me that you shouldn't put the red key in the ignition... this is why i "accidentlly" put it in the ignition...

I don't know why they even have a red key specific to each car when the dealer doesn't even need it to make and program new ones! I wouldn't even bother calling them to get my red key back.

I bought my car secondhand w/o the red key, and I was still able to make duplicates. The guy at honda said they're able to make the duplicates by using any of your normal black keys and the car's vin number....i dunno....all i know is they never had the red key, i never had the red key (cuz the dealership i went to was not where i bought the car), and the duplicate keys work fine.

the dealer where i bought my car from (Route 22 Honda, Hillside, NJ) told me that you can only use that red key ONCE. Not sure why but...hope this helps. Anyone ever hear that also?

yeah its only obvious cause when you do use it your car dies out, and you got to take it to the dealer which means you can only use it once
