rear-view mirror assembly

So one of my friends was trying to take off his jacket and headbutted my rear-view mirror. It decided to fall off. The mirror and the arm it is connected to basically fell out of its place in the overhead light panel. Does anyone know how I can put it back on? There is one screw on the rear-view mirror but it appears that I will need to remove the light panel to put it back together. Does anyone know how to do this? I COULD take it to Honda but they'll probably want $60 to do something that takes 2 minutes. Thanks.

Yeah, you need to take off the overhead light panel to get the rearview mirror in.

Take off the overheadlight lens and then there are two bolts you'll need to remove in the light well. Remove those as well as two clips in the front of the light assembly (closest to the windshield) then you should be able to remove the assembly by sliding it towards the windshield and down. There's an electrical connector you may have to unplug as well after you remove the overhead light assembly.

There are then 3 screws holding the rearview mirror in place.. so just screw it back in and put everything back and there ya go. Don't forget to make sure the little rubber damper piece is still attached to the windshield to hold the mirror steady. Otherwise whenever you drive the mirror will shake which is really annoying..

Good luck!

Excellent! Thanks for your help. Does the Helm service manual cover things like this or is more for replacing brake-pads, etc? I was considering getting one just so I know exactly how the car is built when it comes time to install my amp, etc. Thanks again for your help.

Everyone here uses these smilies but me. Here:

I actually gave you those instructions from just looking at my Helm's manual and seeing how to do it there.. I would highly recommend getting one.. they tell you how to do pretty much anything to your car and they're f'in filled with illustrations. Nice.

Anyway, glad I could help.
