Did you not read my post???

Quote:
A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer. The intention of the shill is, using crowd psychology, to encourage others unaware of the set-up to purchase said goods or services or support the political group's ideological claims. Shills are often employed by confidence artists. In the UK the term plant is also used.
If you look at the bidding history, there are a few people who seem to have a genuine interest and then there is the one bidding like crazy. First off, whoever is c***2 is a new user and the only bids they have are in this one auction only ever . I find it highly unlikely someone would sign up for ebay as a new user and bid on such a niche item with such veracity and have no history of bidding. Also the next person that bid is some 3***4 which has very little feedback as well.

This just all looks very suspicious in that it could be the same guy or group that is just making it super high. You might be fine with paying $600+ for this but would it piss you off knowing you've been had by shill bidding? There is some evidence to suggest this might be the case.

prepreludsh's posts are almost as long as as DP's The only difference is that he knows what he's talking about when it comes to cars. If only he could put some of that knowledge into purchasing certain parts for cheaper

My opinion was that if you thought you had a better car, you were going to check it out because you wanted to see if somebody had a better one than yours. But if you had a stock car and were just starting out, you'd check it out to see what you could plan your goals around. And if you had a car you were halfway through a build with, you'd check it out to see if somebody went about it in a different way. Hell, it's what advertisers and publicists have known their whole lives.

And in reality, I succeeded based on the large amount of views and comments I got on the thread anyway. I probably would've posted that title no matter what my car looked like in an effort to draw discussion to the thread.

I share my experience on stuff because my whole gripe about the tuning scene and the automotive scene in general is everyone takes the information they find and bottle it up and keep it to themselves it seems. I love to talk and discuss and if it gets to the verbal attacking stage then so be it, it's still gonna generate some kind of thought provoking amongst others.

And yes, I make these ridiculously long posts to not only show off information I've learned, but to also incite others to join in and either prove me wrong or share their opinions and experience.

You don't really find me posting on the off-topic work relief threads, which seem to encompass 75% of the daily postings on here, because I get on here to find out new information about our cars and to share my own. I eagerly hunt for anyone with a new part or a problem that they're stumped on or even advice on a build.

I apologize for those who think I've brought no help to PO, but I admire those that ask me questions they know others won't post or help with. I keep my information honest, because I see no need to lie about experiences or numbers in this forum.

And to the next person that buys door sills and pays less than me (and I know it'll happen), my hat is off to you.
I in no way was saying i dont respect the things you do, i have actually read your thread and was very happy to know that someone was doing the things you have. i was sticking up for you in the 09 calander thread, just to clear that up...all i was trying to do this time was let you know how it could seem to someone else and why you sometimes get the feedback that you do. but like i said in my earlier post, im glad you got them and i bet they will look great on the lude!

Try to bring back the comments I made on the kids prelude all you want, it's really not relevant to me buying the door sills. My car is a great platform from the beginning with alot going for it. There wasn't squeaks, rattles or body damage on it and that's what made it less expensive to start to mod.

I won't blame the haters that lurk about on this forum, but my intention for posting this up is to just find the person who was bidding so high against me. I know he or she is probably a member of PO or another Prelude Forum because regular unassuming people just don't want to drop that kind of money on these sills without knowing exactly what they're for. I know the person who bid against me is just as nutz if not more than me about his Prelude, and I'd like to see the car that these potentially could have gone in.

This purchase will now set me back a month for getting my side skirts, but oh well, I gotta take the purchases that may never come again versus the ones that are readily available.

For the record, storm rider, I paid $115 for my red stitched shift knob a year and a half ago because I also could not find it. I overpaid then (I know for a fact) because as soon as that auction was over, the guy put up 3 more of the same knob in which case somebody won at least one of them for $90. I was thinking recently of if would be economical for a tapestry shop or something similar to be able to remove black stitching from a regular SH knob and put the red stitching in it?

For the record, now that you people have seen the money I'd pay for something like this, is anyone willing to sell me a forbidden motorsport radiator cooling plate?

same difference dude. you got heat about paying 620$ for little door sills and said he wasnt a true preluder...but yet you call some guys car with some dings and in need of work and you straight laugh at him? like really come on dude. my car prolly has a cleaner interior than yours when you bought yours. and my car dont have dings or nothing on it but you dont see me saying "my car is a great platform, blah blah blah"

like seriously dude. nobody cares really how your car was such a great platform to begin with and all this other crap...b/c honestly, your car aint got squat on some of the other preludes ive seen

I'll let you know if I find any others out there... I'm sure you tried BoomPlusToys just like I did too.
yea it went a little too high for me there!. but congrats, and about the shills yea i have also heard of them and i do think that people are out doing this but oh well it is what is. Hey and if you really want something and are willing to pay the money for it then why not.

....Ha......Dude, your entire project has been done already...........your ego has been overshadowed.......That was too much, but if you didn't know you could get it for cheaper, you didn't know.

Your car better be making you money somehow, because it may not be good for your financial status to spend that much on two pieces of metal that you step on unless you get reimbursed later.

Good luck on the progress of your car, and shorten up your rants man.

I'm confused, I'm going to assume you're agreeing with me since that's not my car and I didnt blow stupid money on a "show" part. Been there done that, I'd rather use $600 on improving the performance these days.

It's supercharged actually ^^ and that's wheel hp, which is more like 60-70 over stock. Stock make about 165whp give or take a few.

by that attitude i'll judge you and assume you have no experience with upgrading the engine of the prelude.

i'm assuming he's done no physical changes to the block and head. because if you try to boost too much on a stock block you'll end up tearing a piston through the sleeve.

performance modifying isn't linear (ie: HP gains dont add up like in gran turismo), instead it's logarithmic (ie: overlap; one influences another).

edit: thanks darkbluelude. i knew i missed something.

This thread proves several of my theories.

One such theory:

hhahaha, $600 for those stick on things. Ive known several people who had them, weren't that great.

This part is not THAT rare, and are definitely NOT worth 600 bucks, but whatevs!
