But since they fit under his wheel so well, and the camber is not off (or at least, totally off) then it might be a 17x7... but I'm finding them in either 17x8 or 17x9. Offset for that one up there is 25. I want to try my original theory of seeing if a 17x8 would work and not jut out like my current setup is, but I'm sensing failure with that.
The good part about a 17x8 wheel would be I could put a 225/40 tire on it, but I'm still worried about the offset issue...
I wish somebody knew who owned this car so I could personally ask him
And between you and me ThatPreludeGuy, thanks. But don't get cocky and arrogant like I am.
A 25mm rim is going to be a disaster, 17*8 have been run with the proper offset but I'm guessing at full lock you're going to rub. Also afaik only Nitto makes a 225/40/17 and you could fit those on a 17*7 or 17*7.5 rim. Pretty much between 42-48mm on a 17*7 or 17*7.5 rim is optimal however you need to worry about the inside diameter of the rear of the wheel.
I know a 25mm offset sounds bad... and I'm pretty well versed on how anything wider than 7" might have an issue rubbing on this arm or hitting the bottom of this upper ball joint:
I'm just wondering if he had any comments on if they rubbed or not. I like the look of this wheel and this is what I mean by I'm still not sure if it's going to rub or not by looking at numbers, regardless of the info that kukles put up.
Found this website... gives me the option of ordering a 17x7 5zigen wheel with the correct bolt pattern. Only problem is the offset options are pretty diverse. I get to choose between 35, 42 and 48. I wish I knew what that offset was... anybody know jus by looking at it? I would guess the 35mm would be my bet... or do I have it backwards? shiiiiiiiit....
And yeah, I bet this kurt guy has the 17x7 instead of 17x8 because I don't know how well a 215 tire would fit on an 8" wheel. My 215's on my 7" wheel look absolutely perfect. I would imagine here's no rim protection if you stretched a 215 on an 8"....
I don't think a 215 on and 8" wheel would fit, but it certainly wouldn't be safe. If you were to hit a pot-hole 2" deep at more than 35mph, your tire would pop and ruin your nice rims. It's happened to some friends of mine(only it was on a truck with diff. wheel/tire sizes, but same issue).
Hey, can I ask an ignorant persons question? What does the 35mm, 42mm...offset???...What does all this have to do with and mean, I've always wondered....
Oh, and, prepreludesh, I finally got around to seeing your "best car" thread, and I want to know how hard it is to basically re-do an interior if it needs to be re-done, mine doesn't, but it looks really hard since it looks like you basically had to do that.

I believe that offset is like this... If you take a wheel and look at it head on (like you're looking at the tire thread) and if the hub surface where the hub of the wheel joined to the brake rotor were to be exactly in the center of the wheel, that would be 0 offset. The more you move that hub to the outside area of the wheel, you measure that from the imaginary "middle" section of the wheel where 0 offset would be and, in millimeters, that is what the offset would be.
So I think I answered my own question... since Kurt looks like he has wheels that have no lip, I be he has a 48 offset.
If you want a true deep dish wheel, you'll be looking to get a lower offset. Anybody agree with this?
And Pierce, although I think you're a total A-hole (like the man who invented rope), I'll just give you the advice that if you're doing an interior, you just need to have another person help you. Somethings take two sets of hands or if you have two sets of hands, it makes it that much easier. The carpet was the trickiest part of course, but It barely took us half a day to put in the carpet and the sparco harness bar. For the SIR headliner, that was a one man job surprisingly, but if you're going to put in the SIR sunscreen, that's a two man job because you're going to have to take the whole 50 lb sunroof assembly out of the car. The rear seat and front seats are a cinche and the center console is also very easy. I also did the rear C-Pillar bar by myself and that was a one man job as well.
Thanks for the explanation, it helped a lot for future reference.

Although I think the door sills were a waste of a buy, it seems like the rest of the car has been an uphill battle, and I congratulate you on that much, keep at it(...and everyone here against you will keep at you ).
