A special thanks to viperboy_403 for alerting me to this on Ebay because I wasn't checking. But as soon as I did and placed my bid of $406, I was on top for a couple of days, then somebody overbid me for $430 upon which I bid $560, then when I saw the auction was heating up with more views and bids, I raised my limit to $630, never thinking it would run that high, well man was I wrong! Somebody bid at the last moment to try and top me and the auction ended with me as the winner at $620!!!
It is a ridiculous price to pay, but if you've seen my interior, you know how much this last piece means to it!!
Woo Hoo!!!
Dude self absorbed much about your 10 year old car?
You mean the same support you gave when you crapped on the kid who posted his busted up stocker? Or the dozens of other posts you made where instead of helping you just talked about how great your car parts are?
BTW you're doing with your car what dozens had done 8 years ago so excuse me if I'm not overwhelmed with "The Best Prelude in the World"
A guy sold a set of these on PreludeUK a couple of months ago for £70 (100$)
The Americans always pay way over the top for JDM/EUDM stuff (By the way, those sill protectors were an option in the UK, so they might not be JDM afterall!)
wow, just f'n wow. if i knew the prices for these sills would ever go past even $500 i would have bought them all long ago and just waited. and here i thought $300 + shipping was already ridiculous. wow
but that's real cool. from what i've read you say about your car and the few pics of it i see here and there, i can tell you're really into your car and take huge pride in it. it's your money, your life, your car, do as you will right. kudos for making the most mind blowing purchase of the year i'm sure what next? a $200 red stitched sh looking shift knob? or do you have one already? don't take it the wrong way either, i'm not hating, just astonished.
$620......I'm just.......stunned....I mean, if that's what you want then go for it but this is part of the reason why everyone labels import drivers as "ricers"; because they will buy $620 door sills. Like I said, I'm not hating at all, but I'm just....surprised.

You gotta pay to play. Some people just don't look hard enough for the deals, but as long as both parties walk away happy i don't see the problem with it.

agree. you say you are a prelude lover yourself and ask why someone would "hate" on your 620$ door sills but you straight up laughed at a guy who bought his 4gen in need of some work? hypocrite much?
I believe we had a group buy of some sort of those from beaty a few years back. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Price point was a hell of a lot cheaper that what you paid though.
i dont think that people on here are really hating on your car or the money you put in it, but you do have a way of rubing it in peoples faces that you have "the best of the best". im happy that you got the sills thats great, and im sure that they will look great on the lude, but sometimes you do get a little carried away and it does make you seem like your trying to say your better than all of us on here. dont take that personally just tryin to help.

good job on getting the sills, your car has come a long way, and there is a reason to be proud of it.
I know the point of this thread, and i know other people do too. Dont let the people that are making dumb comments get to you.
Well played though... you had me astonished for a minute there that this thing was even going to go that high! I thought for sure it would never top the $400 range... I'm just curious who bid up to $620 and stopped... I always try to think what others are thinking on Ebay as well. I know whoever bid at $620 was either die hard or he was going to try and win the auction no matter what and stiff the seller and try to get him to repost the auction later on while those that were bidding would forget about it and move on... At least, that's a tactic I was thinking could happen?
A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer. The intention of the shill is, using crowd psychology, to encourage others unaware of the set-up to purchase said goods or services or support the political group's ideological claims. Shills are often employed by confidence artists. In the UK the term plant is also used.
If you look at the bidding history, there are a few people who seem to have a genuine interest and then there is the one bidding like crazy. First off, whoever is c***2 is a new user and the only bids they have are in this one auction only ever . I find it highly unlikely someone would sign up for ebay as a new user and bid on such a niche item with such veracity and have no history of bidding. Also the next person that bid is some 3***4 which has very little feedback as well.
This just all looks very suspicious in that it could be the same guy or group that is just making it super high. You might be fine with paying $600+ for this but would it piss you off knowing you've been had by shill bidding? There is some evidence to suggest this might be the case.

prepreludsh's posts are almost as long as as DP's The only difference is that he knows what he's talking about when it comes to cars. If only he could put some of that knowledge into purchasing certain parts for cheaper
I think you're refering to my title of my thread on member's rides. I really just named it that to get everyone to look at it. My opinion was that if you thought you had a better car, you were going to check it out because you wanted to see if somebody had a better one than yours. But if you had a stock car and were just starting out, you'd check it out to see what you could plan your goals around. And if you had a car you were halfway through a build with, you'd check it out to see if somebody went about it in a different way. Hell, it's what advertisers and publicists have known their whole lives.
And in reality, I succeeded based on the large amount of views and comments I got on the thread anyway. I probably would've posted that title no matter what my car looked like in an effort to draw discussion to the thread.
I share my experience on stuff because my whole gripe about the tuning scene and the automotive scene in general is everyone takes the information they find and bottle it up and keep it to themselves it seems. I love to talk and discuss and if it gets to the verbal attacking stage then so be it, it's still gonna generate some kind of thought provoking amongst others.
And yes, I make these ridiculously long posts to not only show off information I've learned, but to also incite others to join in and either prove me wrong or share their opinions and experience.
You don't really find me posting on the off-topic work relief threads, which seem to encompass 75% of the daily postings on here, because I get on here to find out new information about our cars and to share my own. I eagerly hunt for anyone with a new part or a problem that they're stumped on or even advice on a build.
I apologize for those who think I've brought no help to PO, but I admire those that ask me questions they know others won't post or help with. I keep my information honest, because I see no need to lie about experiences or numbers in this forum.
And to the next person that buys door sills and pays less than me (and I know it'll happen), my hat is off to you.
I in no way was saying i dont respect the things you do, i have actually read your thread and was very happy to know that someone was doing the things you have. i was sticking up for you in the 09 calander thread, just to clear that up...all i was trying to do this time was let you know how it could seem to someone else and why you sometimes get the feedback that you do. but like i said in my earlier post, im glad you got them and i bet they will look great on the lude!

I called up BoomPlusToys over 3 weeks ago and they said they have not stocked those door panels for at least a year if not more. I would've bought them for sure if I knew that but after scouring the internet for 2 months on this item, this is the first time I saw it.
Try to bring back the comments I made on the kids prelude all you want, it's really not relevant to me buying the door sills. My car is a great platform from the beginning with alot going for it. There wasn't squeaks, rattles or body damage on it and that's what made it less expensive to start to mod.
I won't blame the haters that lurk about on this forum, but my intention for posting this up is to just find the person who was bidding so high against me. I know he or she is probably a member of PO or another Prelude Forum because regular unassuming people just don't want to drop that kind of money on these sills without knowing exactly what they're for. I know the person who bid against me is just as nutz if not more than me about his Prelude, and I'd like to see the car that these potentially could have gone in.
This purchase will now set me back a month for getting my side skirts, but oh well, I gotta take the purchases that may never come again versus the ones that are readily available.
For the record, storm rider, I paid $115 for my red stitched shift knob a year and a half ago because I also could not find it. I overpaid then (I know for a fact) because as soon as that auction was over, the guy put up 3 more of the same knob in which case somebody won at least one of them for $90. I was thinking recently of if would be economical for a tapestry shop or something similar to be able to remove black stitching from a regular SH knob and put the red stitching in it?
For the record, now that you people have seen the money I'd pay for something like this, is anyone willing to sell me a forbidden motorsport radiator cooling plate?
same difference dude. you got heat about paying 620$ for little door sills and said he wasnt a true preluder...but yet you call some guys car with some dings and in need of work and you straight laugh at him? like really come on dude. my car prolly has a cleaner interior than yours when you bought yours. and my car dont have dings or nothing on it but you dont see me saying "my car is a great platform, blah blah blah"
like seriously dude. nobody cares really how your car was such a great platform to begin with and all this other crap...b/c honestly, your car aint got squat on some of the other preludes ive seen

I'll let you know if I find any others out there... I'm sure you tried BoomPlusToys just like I did too.
yea it went a little too high for me there!. but congrats, and about the shills yea i have also heard of them and i do think that people are out doing this but oh well it is what is. Hey and if you really want something and are willing to pay the money for it then why not.
BTW you're doing with your car what dozens had done 8 years ago so excuse me if I'm not overwhelmed with "The Best Prelude in the World"
....Ha......Dude, your entire project has been done already...........your ego has been overshadowed.......That was too much, but if you didn't know you could get it for cheaper, you didn't know.
Your car better be making you money somehow, because it may not be good for your financial status to spend that much on two pieces of metal that you step on unless you get reimbursed later.
Good luck on the progress of your car, and shorten up your rants man.

I'm confused, I'm going to assume you're agreeing with me since that's not my car and I didnt blow stupid money on a "show" part. Been there done that, I'd rather use $600 on improving the performance these days.
1. those things were a total rip off, what were you smoking that made you pay over 600 dollars for door sills???
2. your car is turboed and has all this stuff and you only have 30 more hp then stock??? can you say pathetic?
2. your car is turboed and has all this stuff and you only have 30 more hp then stock??? can you say pathetic?
by that attitude i'll judge you and assume you have no experience with upgrading the engine of the prelude.
i'm assuming he's done no physical changes to the block and head. because if you try to boost too much on a stock block you'll end up tearing a piston through the sleeve.
performance modifying isn't linear (ie: HP gains dont add up like in gran turismo), instead it's logarithmic (ie: overlap; one influences another).
edit: thanks darkbluelude. i knew i missed something.

you fail,if you were a mod i would have suggested to ban yourself and take your ignorance with you.
if its not that rare than post up all the links that you can find to these parts.
Dude, just because I said its not THAT rare doesn't mean there are 10 links I can just post up. I'd say every couple months Ive seen a pair go up. And they are a rip-off especially at 600 dollars. They stick on, similar to the BS aftermarket ones, and not nearly as nice as ones found on my Dads Miata and other cars with similar features. Ive known at least 5 people (I think even Roger, thepreludedude, had them at one point) who have had them. 4 of which are in our local club in Ohio. They aren't that rare. There are RARE items that are worth making a big deal out of, like the Mugen front end for a 4th gen, etc. or the JDM 5th gen grille which is grey metallic color (I wouldn't pay too much for though). Those is rare, and worth paying double the true value for. These door sills are hard to find, but not impossible.
I have JDM Sir Red interior with the floor mats, and I dont go around boasting about it or other "rare" parts. I post pics occasionally, but definitely dont start the thread with "the best prelude in the world"
prepreludesh is begging for flaming when he makes some of those egotistical posts on here, and then boasts about his uber rare purchase for and item at double or at least 50 percent more than what is a reasonable price. A lot of the people on here have been here for 4-8 years. And have seen nice preludes come and go and have very solid judgment of what is truly rare or awesome. If prepreludesh really wanted them that bad, thats fine, but he could handle it much better.
If he had bought them, installed them, and had said, new addition to my interior, been looking for these for a while, most of us would have been very appreciative of it and congratulated him. But that's not how he handled it. I would never admit to paying 600+ for those things. In fact, there is a thread from a few months back of a guy trying to sell them at 500+ and he got flamed on, especially because he thought they should be selling super fast at that price.

Its funny. As a prelude--->s2k owner, the s2ks come stock with door sills similar to those. If I were to buy them second hand they would be about 40 bucks for both.
.....(I think even Roger, thepreludedude, had them at one point)
lol, actually i never had these. i did have the momo ones at one time. they usually are around $100. and i bought them for $10. i like rare parts but these just never excited me. if i had another color exterior than red i would love to have the red interior. that to me is worth that kind of money.

yeah, but i really dont thinkhe was trying to rub in people face that that he paid all that money, and the best prelude in the worldthread, i been to it already.
And Its a good story,he even admits its not the best, but in HIS OPINION it is.
That is coo,and the title really does grab more attention to go to it,i mean damn look at how many views that thread has.
btw I really do think shill bidding took place in that auction and that really sucks.
I almost fell for one about 3 weeks ago i was the only bidder until the last day, some people started bidding, and some guy even bid more than what other people had the same item f/s with BUy it now.
Anyways i just left that auction, and i checked back and i have yet to see someone give him feedback about that item.

LOL, +2! I had them on my car, bought them from Ray and pretty sure I got about $300 for them when I sold them back in Jan/Feb. It was one of the first things I noticed about the S2k and realized how overpriced they were for the lude.
damn i have a headache after reading this.... grats on the door sills, i was acutally looking at that auction on ebay.. and thought to myself .. damn that would be sweet to have those and then looked at the price and laughed, spend your money however you want man
Until you read my previous post and respond what I said to why I named my post that, then I'll acknowledge what you said. 97VTEC_SH got what I was saying, but I guess you didn't.
FYI, my post WASNT directed at you. It was directed at hotsauce. I dont really care if you acknowledge my post.
