random question..

i got a 2000 ss auto. that my friend wants to purchase from me. but he keeps asking me if a "vtec controller" can be installed in that ecu. and or what ecu would fit there so it can be tuned. its cause while in SS 3rd gear limits at 80mph or 5000rpm and i know its not the tranny cause the tranny feels strong. i know its the fuel cut off kicking in. can that be disabled other than a chipped ecu?

thanks in advance.

Is that just where the car is shifting or is that as fast as it will go when in D?

in sportshift i take 1st to 7k n shift, 2nd to 7k and shift, 3rd gear stops at 5k it wont go higher and it feels definitely like the fuel cut off/ rev limiter is kicking in. so then i shift to 4th. i never really tried it in regular "D".

Well that is strange. To answer you question though, yes you could hook up a V-AFC to and auto, but no, it won't fix that problem.

I don't suppose the check engine light is on? Try it in drive and see if you have the same problem.

Could it be a solenoid malfunction?

He would have to have a CEL though.

it sounds to me like the 3rd gear in the auto tranny is screwed, why else would it not go after 5500rpm, if all the other gears work and go up to 7000rpm then that is a signal that the engine is runnign and is capable of that rpm, i have suspicions of the trans, not the tune or the rev limiter.....

Are you sure he's a good friend? Looking at that price, it sounds like you're ripping him off!

Dude you must have downs syndrome or something cause your grammar sucks....and wtf do you mean "which would be the best v-afc?" there is only one made by apexi....you need to get rid of that ***amatic. Sell it to some 16 year old kid that just got his license. I was out one day and this kid wanted to buy my car and I randomly said 10,000 for it and he was like "thats a good deal"

I'm with Tee-Dot. Just lie. Sell the sissy ride and purchase something masculine.

i dont think im ripping him off. hes getting a nice car, decent miles, new paint job, a few bolt-ons..overall good car in and out. expect for that minor problem i mentioned. im selling it for 5k so he can swap it to manual himself.
