Hi, My problem is still occuring! It started off randomly with a rattle at idol, now the rattle is louder and it appears to be a watered-down oil spraying out off my exhaust pipe. There are no obvious leaks, the motor is only in the 40k miles range, and it has been maintained and in good shape!
I am very confused because this randomly started happening acouple weeks ago!
Does this sound like maybe a blown headgasket to anyone? or what?
and what are some recommendations for building a new block? i.e. pistons, rods, etc?
My car has been making a noise like that for a long time now. It only does it when its cold so about the first 5-7 minutes then its gone. Every morning or when its parked for a long time. And I don't know what it is either.

It could be a dozen different things . . . to get better responses, narrow down exactly when it happens, and how long it happens for.
Even with those pieces of information, I'd be surprised if this could be diagnosed remotely. If you can't narrow it down to exactly where it's coming from, a mechanic's stethoscope (and someone experienced in using one) would probably be your best bet.

It happens for the first 10-15 mins while its warming up! it sounds like its comng from the block or oil pan, somewhere around the bottom off the motor.
I've been having the same problem, it occurs only when the car is parked over night or for an extened period of time. after 5 - 15 mins it goes away, it pretty weird. I also knowtice that the sound is louder if the car is in gear (I have Auto SS, Stock everything, 118,000 mi, every matienence done accordingly to matienence schedule in owners manual). I have yet to figure out the problem. It sounds like chaa chaaa chaa chung, chaa chaaaa chaa chung....
does this "sound" go up with the rpms or does it just stay at its own rate
if its coming from the block you got bearing probs if its not could just be a heat shield could also be the inside of the cat. rattling around in there or a throw out bearing
When my car was idling yesterday I could hear it slightly. So I was kinda under the car and I think my noise is coming from somewhere inside the cat. You may have the same issue. But I think its my cat. We seem to have the same symptoms. And **** its embarrassing.
Mine when the rpm goes up you can't really hear it I don't think, when you let off the gas and the rpm drops is where it really makes its noise. Or even when the rpm goes from about 1k-2k upwards it will make the noise.

My camera can't really pick up that noise well. I put it under the front bumper and for some reason it couldn't record the noise. But I did another one with the camera out the window. You can only hear the sound right at the begining and at the 15 second mark. Forgot about the wind sound lol. But after the noise at the 15 second mark their is nothing worth hearing after that.
