rad installation

I'm replacing my radiator and a friend of mine mentioned that before i connect all the hoses i should fill the oil cooler with transmission fluid to minimize the amount of air in the system. I'm thinking that I can just add more fluid to the transmission after everything is reinstalled and it will be fine. any input?

Thanks

I did mine a year ago....Installed everything then added coolant until the level got to the top of the radiator. Then just turn the car on withthe radiator cap off and let the coolant cycle and when the engine gets warm enough you will know when to put the cap on. Then just fill the overflow tank until the system is at the right level..you do not need to use the bleeder valve for the coolant system if you do it this way.

I think you 2 need to re-read the last part.

But to answer the "luke_a192" question, Yea its completely unnecessary for you to put ATF on the cooler lines. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of someone doing that before on any vehicle. Nonetheless, you're just going to cause a headache to yourself if you attempt to do so. Just add w/e amount of ATF that drained out and you'll be fine.
