So if you don't get the unit the tach doesn't change color at shift point?

Okay..since I have the tach, I will answer your questions.
Yes..the tach changes colors without the unit/module. It changes every 1000 RPMS. So--
1000rpm - white
2000rpms - blue
3000rpms - green
4000rpms - yellow
5000rpms- red
It's something like that...the color change may be every 1500.. i'll check tonite when i take off on the freeway.
You need the module "IF" you want your other R1 gauges (air, fuel, temp, boost) to synchronize in color changes with the tach... ex. Tach becomes blue -- all the other gauges become blue.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.
It would be nice if someone made a tach that changed colors when you hit the shift point you set. This way we could get rid of stupid shift light.

They do exist..I dont know about the one in question, but I have seen them...they look like a an monster tacho with a white face, but as soon as it hits the predetermined shift point it glows red or yellow....I try to get a picture and find the brand

You don' t like the shift lite? I love it because it's really bright.. I'll tell you one thing, in the day time, if there was a tach with a face that turned red when the shift point was hit, you would not be able to see it.

That tach is awsome I talked to the guy that built them and sells them, he is really an ass but they are about $320 not including the controller that makes it change color.

Oh...not to burn anyones beans..but I bought mine for 200 cash. Got a deal on it at a motorsport store in chinatown. Oh yeah.. you don't need the controller to change the colors. It changes every 1000 rpms or so by itself.

juss wondering...since the ludes stock rpm tach is off by a few hundred rpms, would an aftermarket rpm tach like the r1 or autometer fix the problem? thanks
