question about my VTEC

Ever since I got my car back from honda after having 8 valves replaces my VTEC has been kicking in at right around 5000 rpm which is about 200 rpm earlier than before. What could have caused this? Obviously Im not complaining just curious.

Also Ive noticed that my idle has been a nit inconsistent. Sometimes its at 700, sometimes at 800 and once in a while at 900, on a fully warm engine. What could be causing that?
