Question about the fuel gauge.

I just purchased a 97 and had a question about the fuel gauge. When the needle hits "E" and the light comes on I fill the tank all the way and it comes out to around 12 gallons. If the tank is 15.9 gallons, this would mean that I would have almost 4 gallons left. Does this sound right to you? That I can drive around 100 more miles once the light comes on?

ok this is what happens. when your filling up your tank the gas reaches the neck and there are air pockets that cant get out because the neck of the tank is sealed. this happens when your tank is not level because your not on even ground.
