Q: Neuspeed Springs

ok redundant question. I did a search (so don't bite my head off) and i've read a at least 15 pages of posts on springs. the Q is:

i want to get the neuspeed springs but do i have to get new shocks/struts as well?

i go to UT and i have enough $$ flow sittin around for the springs but i don't have the $$ to get both the springs and koni's (made up my mind on that one). what i'm thinkin is that i get the springs now and work during the summer and get the koni's then.
Any help guys would be greatly appreciated.

Also-would that be a good combo? neuspeed/koni? i read a post like 20 mins ago and i'm tired of searching =T. thanks again guys

most people here will agree that neuspeed and koni shocks make a great combo...
you can get the springs now and use your stock struts and since you plan on getting the koni's relatively soon you wont have to worry too much about your stock struts blowing out...

haha yea i saw the groupbuy on it too 97 blacklude. i was pretty damn close on buying rims but my mom would have my ass stand in front of a firing squad. i have some money left over and i'm just thinkin bout getting it dropped. the funny thing bout ludes is that a lot of ppl ask me if my car is dropped cuz most preludes i've seen has that 'shorter stance'. yea bout the konis, i think if i do get the springs i'm gonna get the konis in the summer time.

btw, thanks for the fast responses guys

I know someone ordered the race and he has had problems w/ them And since u don't have shocks i would just get the sports unless u want to buy a camber kit too

I swear i hate suspension companies now. I heard that Neuspeed has switched the front springs on their sports and race springs. I guess it would help ahead of time to e-mail Neuspeed and ask them if you're going to be okay. Although I asked Neuspeed, and they said I'd be fine with my race springs, however THEY LIED....

Well, I'd check with Neuspeed, and whatever brand of shocks you are going with just to be sure. Neuspeed is now blaming koni and their perches, saying i have the wrong perches. I dont know....I'll let those two companies battle it out Tienboi, feel free to IM me on AIM, i'll tell you everything...........and show u some pix

Don't get the Race springs!!!

I can almost GUARANTEE u'll have ride problems w/stock shocks as well as severe rubbing and tire wear!!

The OLD man speaks

Lets just say that the Race springs are for a purpose and the Sport springs are multi-purpose.
For a daily driver/track day car you won't go wrong with the Neuspeed Sport/Koni "yellow" combo-that is what I have and don't plan to change it. Using the Race springs presents issues that many don't need or want to deal with.
Now as to the setup on a 5th gen BASE the Koni shocks work perfectly with either the RAce or Sport springs. Make sure youare very specific about which generation you have and in our case-the model Base or SH. For those with SH wanting a lowered ride that is also stiffer I would look carefully before buying. Although I am a genuine NEuspeed/Koni person-the SH is different in front by enough to consider doing a coilover setup using the Ground Control sleeves with their Koni perch plates.

Now to the person planning this project. No matter what you do as to the springs-get the Konis and springs together-it is cheaper in the end and you will have a great setup. Personally, if I were unable to get both I'd get the shocks and use the lower perch positions until I got the springs and then reset the perches to the standard positions.
BTW: The Race springs are very stiff and not as forgiving as the Sport.
Talk to tech at both Koni and Neuspeed and you will get the straight info from eeach of them-that has been my experience for a lot of years (Koni in particular).
Happy Luding
