Product Review: 3M Headlight Restoration Kit

So I picked up 3M's headlight lens restoration kit the other day.
This guy:

All you need to use it is a 1200-1600 RPM drill/driver.
Before:
After:
The most dramatic results were when I used it on my fiancee's Grand Prix GT because her lenses were in rougher shape.
Before:
After:
I recommend this product, $29 CAD to make your headlights look 10 years newer.

The only issue I have found with headlight polishes is that they seem to return to there old state within a year or so. You can repeat the process but I wish there was a more permanent solution.

Or perhaps I don't really know the whole story.

It's called saving your penny's for new headlights. Do it.

All these polishes, waxes, restoration techniques do is fill in micro scratches with some crap and dissolve over time.

There's not really any polish involved, it's mostly sanding, sanding, and sanding some more.

The last step on the package you posted says "polish". Either way I get what you mean.

Washing your car weekly and using a sealant on them keeps it from coming back. Multistage wet sanding by hand followed by a plastic polish works better than any kit (used this one before).

The polishing part takes place after the most drastic changes have already been done. It accounts for like 5 minutes of the 1+ hour it takes.

I'm not going to hand sand the equivalent of over an hour spent using a 1300 RPM cordless drill. I already wash and wax the entire car completely by hand. There's a plastic polish included in this kit, and a sealant.

+1 they return to how they were within a year or so.

Is there any clear coat that can be used after the restoration?
