Problem with prelude ... engine ? transmission? [SOLVED]

Hi guys,

I bought this car a month ago, the guy says the car runs well and everything. The car does actually, he swapped for a JDM h22a and changed the transmission as well ... but because of that, i lost the ATTS & ABS ... oh well.

Yesterday, my car was acting weird. I though it was because my tires are slipping. When i press gas , in no matter what gear, the gas pedal and the whole car feels like shaking. It takes a lot of effort for the car to go to 100km/h... When i put on neutral, inside the car, i can feel a certain pattern of shake ... The hood is making noise because the shake of the engine is quite big. I tried to put my hood wihle having the car on idle. the engine is like shaking and jumping ...........

I get almost no power. I don't know how to describe the feeling but it's like its trying really hard to accelerate, just like accelerating at 2nd gear and 3rd gear (for example) at very low speed , that kind of shaking at the beginning but constantly having this feeling, non stop, until RPM reaches over 4k or 5k RPM ... steering wheel shakes as well....

Anyone had this problem before? Is it a symptom that i need to change clutch or timing belt or something?

Thank you very much.

[PROBLEM SOLVED]

Car was attempted to engine wash by a newbie like me. The last cylinder was soaked with a bit of water. Garage used a compressor, blew out all water in four cylinders and spark wires. Works like new now the car =)

Much less smoke burnt. No weird idle. Thank you guys!

Sounds like you're only running on 3 cylinders.

You might also need motor mounts.

I realised that im also having trouble starting the car. Changed the spark plugs already....new ngk's. After the first starting sound, the 2nd starting sound seems long and un-smooth. Ill take a video tonight. Thanks

YouTube - My prelude

I don't hear any knockings anymore.....(except from shock knocks)The idle is VERY low for some reason??
The engine sounds louder than before, at 5th gear, after 100km/h, the car has no strenght
at all even at full throttle. It's simply taking the fuel for nothing...

You should start by pulling the CEL code. I can't tell you how to do that because I don't know if you kept OBDII with the swap or if you are now OBDI. If the CEL is some b.s. code like the egr or something else minor, run a compression test.

red valve cover is JDM type S H22A. Not much people are willing to spend 3-4k for that engine.....

CEL code = 41
ABS code = 14, 15 , 16 , 31 , 51, 2
ATTS code = 35 , 33

From what i know, Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater doesnt have anything to do with my cylinders and reduced power does it?

Probably not. If it was CEL 1, then that would explain why your car is running so bad.

I get CEL code 41 like 6 times, so this must be the only code i get. I also checked the spark plugs, by starting the car on idle, and removing 1 at a time the spark plugs or cable from 1 cylinder, 4 of them shakes and the motor turns slower if i remove it.

Could it be a bad battery? I don't know how old is the battery.
I would like to thank you everyone for helping me so far.
I am happy that it's not really a cylinder mis-firing or something since the CEL does not tell so.

I dunno man, that second video you posted sounds pretty bad. Running the engine dry on oil is murder on rod bearings and piston rings...You might want to run a compression test.

It is definitely NOT the battery though.

Can the intake's sensor be messed up and cause this choke? Because if i don't drive the car for few hours and then drive it, my first 1minute is smooth but after one red light idle ... my car starts being messed up =/

I'll be going to garage tuesday but i just want to help them a bit .... Thank you guys.

So wouldn't the shake come from the low idle? As I was posting before, my tachometer was reading 400 just like that, and my hood kinda rattles. Took it to the dealership and they claimed my tach was going out and misreading and nothing else was wrong. I just don't have the lag you're having, but the previous owner did not take care of the car as pulling my valve cover showed to me. Good luck, let us know what the problem is man.

roblem solved ........ I attempted to engine wash for the first time of my life, a bit of water soaked in the first cylinder, the garage used a compressor and blew out all water in all spark plugs & spark plug wires.

Works perfectly now. Idle is back to normal (around 800) , much less smoke burnt at the exhaust. Thank you guys !!
