Problem with power door locking...unlocks fine but doesnt lock??

Hey I am really confused aobut my car right now...My car doesnt lock when I used the alarm lock button. And the unlocking works fine with the alarm remote. Nothing with the alarm or the power door locks have ever been messed around with since I bought the car. Which is now slightly over 4 years ago.

The car only locks when I push the button down to lock it. Do you think its possible that its a blown fuse? Or did something go wrong with my wiring in the car? I had my window open a few days ago when it was raining hard and my carpet was pretty moist. Even though it was only for a max of 3-4 mins. Everything else seems to be running fine.

Its not really that bad but its more like an inconvinience because I have to remember to lock the car everytime I get out of it when I'm out. I was in LA a few nights ago and all I did was hit the "lock" on my alarm remote...so my car was open for all theives for 1 night...so glad nothing happened though....

basically u got it right...The lock button arms the car but does not lock the car. But the lock switch inside the car will lock. Just not when you use the alarm remote.

What is the worse possible scenario for this? Would I need to go get a new alarm? This alarm is POS anyways its the most basic alarm anyone can get for thier cars.

i dont think the door locking mechanism is broken, otherwise it wouldn't lock with the inside switch either.. i there's a loose connection or shorted wire somewhere, leading from the alarm. try to obtain the manual from ur alarm and see which wire is the "lock" one... u can try to trace the short, or just run a new wire..
