I think one of the major differences is the valve angle geometry - instead of 60 degrees it's 45 degrees on the type S. Thats why (I think) some people have problems when fitting type S cams. The valves are set differently as well.

No cat, cams, pistons

I heard they do not have catalytic convertors in japan. That will free up some extra horses. Also the Type S has different cams and high compression piston I believe.

it also has a port and polish job, the throttle body is slightly larger at 62mm instead of 60mm.

What i'm trying to say is how much faster is the Type S when compared to the North American gen 5 preludes.?
