prelude manual vs sportshift - is the manual wayyy faster or wont notice much differe

prelude manual vs sportshift - is the manual wayyy faster or wont notice much difference unless you are racing people everyday? like is the difference like by 1 second?

does startup faster in manual? or just like a 1 second difference ?

If you are concerned about performance 1 bit then get the 5 spd. Unless you plan to be in bumper to bumper traffic for longer then 2 hours everyday, then I would say get the 5 spd. If you plan to race at all get the 5 spd. I would say if all you want is looks and relaxation, get another car. j/k Nah, if you want to relax and pimp, then get the Sportshift. But if you want to do any of the above mentioned statements, get the 5 spd..

how many of you hit 15.1 in a stock 5 spd. i hit higher than a 16.8 too in my ss and in the ss it can depend on teh driver...i like the auto on the street and traffic more...i mean if i wanted a fast ass car i would have bought something a helluva lot cheaper and a lot damn faster. The only thing you ahve to wory about w/ the auto is it not holding the hp and breaking down...1500 and it can handle 450 hp i think according to level 10's claims...when/if mine finally goes bad i think i will rebuild w/ this...300 for the kevlar "kit" and 500 for the tq...then the rest is just labor....i heard it takes ffomr 6-8 hrs. to install so...

ALSO, the manual wont have any of the transmission problems that the SS might have. Go for manual, it's the best choice i ever made. I love it, and lots of your friends cant drive your car

True, it is about 1 sec. difference 0-60 and 1.5sec 1/4 miles. But do you have any idea how far the car can travel at that speed(60mph or 90+ mph). That distance will make you look stupid in a race.

Even for day to day drive, 5spd has better response (If you are a good driver of cource) and more reliable, less maint.

Get a SS is just like get something more luxury and less sporty. So, it is not that bad, just preferences. Hell, not everyone dirves sports/sporty cars. Just like someone will drive a 6spd stripper Camero Z28 while others drive a Toyota Camry XLE 4 cylinder with leather, roof, navigation system, climate control and premium sound system. It is just a personal preference.

A 5spd is just more sporty and the SS is more luxury. IF you want to be sporty, get the 5spd, more luxury, relax, stuck with the SS.

I don't see how the SS can be that slow, 16.8 in the 1/4. Hell my fastest is a 16.4 in my 95 Accord EX auto w/ CAI/H/E and pullies. So I'm still making less power and weigh more than an SS and run better than a 16.8. If you run a 16.8 in a SS then you don't belong on the track cause you can't drive.

Anyways I drove an SS and seemed much faster than my car. I drove a 5sp base and it was way better. Nothing beats having 5 gears to take advantage of the power. The SS just seems like a slug before VTEC comapared to a 5sp.

Dude. Just get the SE in manual and your cool. You can't go wrong. Do a search and see how many regret getting the SS after they tested the Manual.

Let's assume that for 0-60, the 5spd use 1 sec. less and at that time, both 5spd and SS are going about 60mph, so they will travel 60 miles in an hour. So, 1 mile/minute, thus 1609 metre / 60 sec = 26.81 metre. That is what about 6 car's length. You figure out if that is a big difference or not.

So, for 1/4 miles, that is 13 car's length, which do make you look stupid IMO.

But, still, not everyone cares about that difference. So, again, it is your choice.

get a manual

i screwed up the first time around..so I dont want anyone else to make the same mistake.

Like someone said before, its truly the difference between night and day. You get more control of the car, faster accerlation, and the car feels lighter (mentally) in terms of handling. Probably cuz I replaced my auto with a SH.

Anyways.. if you just like crusing around town. And isn't considering modifying, autox, track, mountains, or drag racing. Then go for the auto. And it should be alright

my only complaint with a manual
1. drivign around in the Prelude when the engine is still cold. You have to be really careful with the clutch.. and careful not to rev it too high.

2. damn auto taking off at the light faster then me. I'm always a 1-2 seconds behind. Alteast when I'm not paying attention.
