help required please .... base and SH tie rods & ball joints same??

Are the tie rods all the same for base and type SH ? I dont see any type SH tie rods sold on ebay but i see quite a few for base .... I searched before, didnt find any answers. Please direct me. Thank you.

Every seller always writes excluding type SH but they always end up fitting (calipers, brakes, suspensions). I had to fight with my mechanic to make him install my tokico illumina. He woulnt believe me that the tokico's were bolt on directly....he kept showing me the magazine saying : Excl.SH 97-01 .... At the end, they did fit perfectly. They said it was for civic .... since that time, i changed to another garage.

i just replaced tie rods on my 97 sh, and i was told to just order new oem ones from honda, but i would check the part numbers from the base model and the sh to make sure they are right, cause i've seen the suspension on a base compared to mine, and there are a few differences.

You best best is to check the Majestic Honda site for the parts. Compare part numbers between base and SH, if they match the parts are the same.

As for ball joints, the uppers come as part of the control arm, which is different between base and SH. I'm unsure of the lowers.

Stop Stop Stop suggesting people use Majestic to view part numbers. Majestic doesn't display Honda part numbers, so that would be worthless. Instead, use Honda Parts and Honda Accessories from Bernardi Parts - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories

What's the difference if they show Honda part numbers or not? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm asking for my own knowledge. All he was asking is if the parts between the base and SH are the same. It seems to me, regardless of where he goes or what part numbers he looks at, when comparing base to SH parts from the same source, the numbers will tell him if they're different or not. What am I missing here?

OP: I would recommend not cheaping out on ebay suspension parts. I've tried it, and they never last. Maybe there are good quality parts on there, but the cheapest always ended up costing me more money and time in the end.

Majestic's numbering system might not have all the variations or improvements. For example, a part originally came identical for SH and base. Later, that was altered on the SH and a new part number was given (by Honda). If some other company uses their own system, it's not near as reliable.
