I have my OEM muffler and dual exhaust tips on my car now. However, before I got my Prelude I wanted to put the Prelude muffler and exhaust tips on my Accord, so I have an extra OEM muffler and tips. Would it be possible to split them?
And have 2 tips on each side? What would it run me about?
Just wanted to note that it wouldnt be for performance gains at all, strictly because it looks friggin' GOOD.
I personally think that it would look quite dumb since the Prelude only has one set of headers coming off the engine, therefore meaning only one exhaust pipe from the header. Ive always thought it dumb whenever I see a 4-banger with dual exhaust on it. This is just my .02, not trying to whore your thread, just thought I would let you know that dual exhaust on a Prelude Some may agree others may not, but to each his own.

you might actually LOSE power if you dont do the piping right, There was someone on the board that did dual OEM mufflers, dont know his sn tho.
Also S2000 has dual mufflers with one set of headers

also, the s2000 engine and exhaust system are designed so that it can be dual exhaust....the lude is not....you will lose a bit of power....id go with a custom job with only one exhaust

See I have an automatic as it is. So obviously losing a little low end torque wont matter that much because the SS Ludes are not really fast cars, at all.
If you have an SS I wouldn't worry about losing power. I mean your already down on it to begin with so whats a few more? You just have to think about what you want looks or power? I can't say the look is something to be sought after so is it power?

Well if thats the case then do it....i think it would look good...

I like the dual exhaust look, but only with single tips.
As for losing power, the only time I think that doesn't happen is when you are FI. If you are N/A, you probably have to have some really small piping to avoid losing alot of power.
And don't use OEM mufflers... they suck in terms of restricting power.

Considering you don't gain that much from going to a free flowing aftermarket exhaust. I don't think he will have enough exhaust flow that two stock mufflers are going to restrict anything. Since he's only adding another muffler and not another full exhaust system the losses will be minimal.
You will loose more power by using heavy 18" aftermarket wheels but thats another story

In the beginning, your absolutely correct. If you only have intake and exhaust your not going to notice anything.
But one you start getting serious with modding, I imagine it will make a big difference, especially with FI. I remember one guy in a previous thread said Thermal vs. Tanabe was a 13whp difference, with Tanabe coming out on top.
Why don't you just hang the other muffler and not hook it up to the actual exhaust system. No one has to know its not hooked up, it can be your little secret. And as for looks I think it looks good just as long as you use the stock muffler with the stock tips, just don't use any big fart can.

I think a few people have done this with the black widow rear. I would feel kinda funny putting a dummy muffler on my car, but that is just me. Just watch out on cold mornings when only one exhaust has condensation coming out.
I find some of the arguments funny. I wont point out which ones.
I'm not pro-dual exhaust for the H22 for one reason. It has to be designed properly and put on a flow bench.
As far as the four banger theories and yada yada yada. The S2K has it. What the H22 hasn't been designed for it? Well let me tell you the H22 in the previous gen Arccord Euro R had dual tips from the factory. Mugen also makes dual tips for the Accord Euro R H22.
But just welding on a second stock exhaust is a no no.
And whats worse is little punks in tin cans are gonna taunt you every time they see you. Hey. I would. And they would own your SS. I'm tired of defending the prelude name against racers that own SS ludes on other boards and put are cars down.
Therefore don't do it. PLEASE for the love of god don't do it.
