Ok so I have no life and i decided to mess with the gauge cluster again..
anyway if u read my old tread Another addition (sorta) to the interior LED mod...
i used red leds instead of blue leds to get the red needles.. and this is a thing that people hate about the stock prelude gauges.. after they buy reverse-indiglos.. the orange needles contrasted.. so i decided to do red... the reason i didn't do blue was because i didn't want to deal with finding a good way to paint the needles until i got my hands on a spare cluster...
ok yes there is a point to all this nonsense... so i would do the red-needle mod for ppl.. but that would require sending me the entire gauge cluster.. and it's harder to live without a gauge cluster than a climate control or somethin.. so anyway i found/made the solution to it..
TADAAAAAA
(the thing on the LEFT)
i modified the stock bulb that goes into the gauge cluster so that it's now a LED (with resistor), and sanded tip... this is for u lazy people that dont wanna bother soldering it urself.. just swap out the stock bulbs!!!
here's a pic of how they look with reverse indiglos
annnnnnnnd... a new development..
STOCK GAUGES with my LED bulbs
NOTE ON STOCK GAUGES: unfortunately, these are not as bright as the modified climate control lights would look etc... HOWEVER.. if u look at the "40"mph u see a brighter hot spot.. that hot spot is what i'm trying to achieve throughout the whole gauge face..
once i obtain the spare cluster i'm waiting on, i will be able to get everything to shine brighter, and also BLUE will work without looking all dim...
but anyway like i said
THESE ARE PLUG AND PLAY!
QUESTIONS/COMMENTS?!?!?!

Looks nice man.. I've been contemplating going back to stock gauges and it would be very nice if they could be a bright red.. I would seriously considering buying that kit off ya if you can get it to work..

it's LED red.. they basically match the STOCK brightness.. but they're red instead of orange.
only reason i commented on it being "dim" was compared to the led mod on the climate control etc.. cuz that has leds mounted behind each button.. where the gauge cluster only uses 4..
so yea basically if u wanna do red gauges, stock brightness. this is completely plug and play..

Here's a pic of mine.. you can kinda see the stock needle in there. It's not that bad really. I don't mind it anyway.
